Repurposing diy Arbor after wedding

Ashley, on September 23, 2018 at 7:39 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7
Hi All!
So my dad was kind enough to build us an arbor for our ceremony (10/4/18) when he found out we were going to rent one. The only problem I have now is what to do with it when we're finished. I've been trying to find ideas on Pinterest but I haven't found anything. I don't want to throw it away because it's actually really nice and made of copper. I don't really want to sell it either because my dad made it. I would put it in our yard but considering someone stole our lawnmower out of our shed last year that doesn't seem like a good idea.

It's pretty large (4'x7'x1') but we have plenty of room in our house. It looks something like this: http://shopatqueencityvignette.com/shop/item/streamlined-copper-arbor-133668/

Thoughts?

I'd think about adding shelves to it. Create supports and then either glass or wood horizontal pieces.

I would use it in my house as a featured piece. Because it very beautiful and also sentlemental to you because your Dad made it.. And you would be so hurt if it got stolen.

You could put it in your yard but in concrete so it doesnt get stolen. . Resell? Dont throw it away though. That is so wasteful! Someone else can use it. Copper is really expensive! You could even sell it just for the copper.

Hi Ashley! I asked my husband for ideas because he's pretty good about that kind of thing. He said if it's made of copper it might not be structurally sound enough to add shelves without bending. I'm sure your dad will know if that's a feasible option or not.

I don't know if it's something you would like or not, but another idea I had would be to put it against a wall in a foyer or living room (or even bedroom if you have enough space) and find a nice tufted dining bench or settee that fits just inside. Then you could hang something (maybe wedding pictures?) on the wall above the bench. You could still decorate the arbor with some greenery, and could change it up a bit if you decorate for the holidays.
