Rescue flats

Felicia, on March 16, 2021 at 1:53 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
Did anybody here purchase “rescue flats” for their reception? They are SO pricey but I’m willing to pull the trigger if they were worth it. I would need multiple boxes for every female guest and that’s where it adds up. I’m not really interested in offering flip flops to my guests as it’s a black tie event.

I won't be doing anything like that for my guests. We have an outdoor garden venue and it will be a very casual affair. Honestly, we don't care if people are barefoot on the dance floor if they really don't want to wear the shoes they came in. Otherwise, I think it's a nice gesture but definitely not a requirement. I kind of see it like they're adults and have likely been to weddings before and can plan accordingly. If they don't, then a lack of planning on their part does not constitute an emergency on mine. However, if it's in your budget and is something you'd like to do then go for it. The only thing I would caution is that guests may not want to switch out of their own shoes or might feel uncomfortable using shoes that are just sitting out for anyone's use. I've worked at weddings where rescue flats or sandals were provided and only a couple pairs were used. It is a bit of a "know your crowd" thing though.

I would assume it’s not worth the cost, especially for a black tie wedding I wouldn’t be taking my heels off.

I found some cheaper foldable flats on AliExpress, I might order. $198 for 50 pairs. I’ve also been looking into other options. I love Rescue Flats, but they’re so expensive.

What are the benefits of this? I can only think of the cons (e.g., wasting money on one-time use things). I would save your money and/or spend it on something more meaningful for your wedding. Trust your guests to wear appropriate shoes.

I think it’s a great idea, but if it’s over your budget and I don’t think it’s necessary. I’ve been to weddings where there were flats provided, however no one even touched them. I would imagine that there would be more stilettos at your event seeing as how it’s black-tie, however I feel like most people plan their wedding shoe around if they will be able to dance in them because not everyone expects there to be flip-flops or rescue flats at the wedding. My suggestion would be I don’t think you need to buy enough for everyone. Maybe if you wanted to buy half the quantity you were expecting? As a person who wears heels to every single wedding no matter what and dances like a motha, I never get the rescue flats or flip-flops. I feel like it makes me look weak LOL

I think this is really silly. People know how to dress and will bring flats if they think they will need them.

I have been thinking of ordering them for my guests at my wedding as well. Smiley smile

I am someone who always takes off my shoes when dancing and have been to many weddings were flats were provided and I always thought that was a nice "extra". ( I never expect them to be provided as I am OK dancing barefoot)

DJ has a great suggestion of only ordering half (maybe even less)

I agree with the previous poster who said to order less so that you're not wasting money. I definitely don't think this is the type of situation where every female guest at your wedding is going to take you up on it. I usually either bring a lower (2" or so, I am 5'8" so I don't need a ton of height) blocky heeled or wedge shoe that is comfortable for dancing, or I will bring my own pair of flats in a complementary color to change into. It's certainly nice of you to think of your guests, but I don't think it's necessary to spend a big chunk of money on something that many of your guests will take into account anyway.

No and didn't consider it. In our families/friends, those who dance either stick to heels in long dresses or go barefoot in short dresses that they will not trip over. Flip flops/other are not worn because they are not made to dance in so mobility is very limited. We didn't feel it was a wise thing to spend money on when they will not be used by anyone.

They are ridiculously overpriced. I’ll have to check Ali express!

Instead of Aliexpress/DHGate/Alibaba which are based out China and you may not get what you ordered, try https://www.cinderollies.com/bulk-discount-wedding-favors/
