Reserved signs for ceremony

Kelly, on August 5, 2017 at 11:18 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Do people know that they shouldn't sit in the first one to two rows on either side for the seats in the ceremony if there aren't reserved seating signs? I don't want to have to buy reserved signs if I don't have to. I do have a sign that will go as you enter saying "pick a seat not a side" etc...To me, guests should assume not to sit at the very very front, but ya never know with people sometimes

Will you have ushers? If they are seating your guests you can tell them which rows to avoid.

I think people know not to do this and the signs look too informal for me. Reminds me of a school play or something.

I'm not having ushers. I may just make or get simple signs like this after I figure out how many seats/rows will need to be reserved

Sometimes we have them, sometimes not. Most people know the first rows are for family.

Are you guys doing embellishments on the chairs lining the aisle? If so, perhaps decorating the reserved rows with a different color/style?

No signs, but the different color ribbon or embellishment should be enough.

Most people definitely know the 1st row is reserved , but not the 2nd row ( if needed). There are some nice and cheap designs from Esty if you want to get signs.

Do the signs. Most people may not know, in my experience.

Our ceremony seating arrangement is very intimate (two rows of 10 seats on each side of the aisle, in a semi circle shape) so I'm definitely doing reserved chair tags.

Our venue actually requires us to put names on those seats. We will also have a reserved seating sign on each side. I know some people on both sides of our families think they're super special, so we'll avoid any confusion.
