Reshoot- cake smash?

Ashley, on August 1, 2020 at 4:44 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 29
We rescheduled til next year, and had already planned on doing another photo shoot on or around our original date, just because. But I want to make it fun! Some normal, of course, but I feel like I need some *insert negative gesture* 2020 shots too.

A friend of mine suggested a cake smash. I kinda love it. Maybe even wear a black dress instead of white?🤨🤨
Has anyone seen/heard/done anything like that? Pinterest isn’t helping me as it usually does. 🤣

The OP may be talking about something else, but cake smashes are typically for babies on their first birthday. I’ve never heard of a bride doing one before, but to each their own

Might be cute if the cake has a noticeable “2020” cake topper or 2020 written in icing on the side of one tier, for when you’re smashing it. That gesture seems very fitting for 2020! I like the idea of a black dress... kind of like putting 2020 “to rest”.

You guys can smoosh cake in each others faces. And have a 2020 on the cake that you both smash.

There was a fad over a lot of years, sometimes you still see it, of bride or groom smashing a piece of cake in the otherone's face , instead of each feeding the other a piece of cake. I am one who thinks it disgusting to trash the hair/ make up, often gown due to fat and frosting food coloring getting on it, in front of a crown of people. Thousands have done it. Feeding each other is a gesture of love and nurturence, symbolic at a wedding of always taking care of each other. Some people find it funny to smash a cake or pie in someone's face. Foodfight at a picnic, fine. At a $10-50 K party????

I totally get it. We postponed as well. But I’m actually glad that everything is done/planned and doesn’t have to be thought of for almost a year. I’ve considered a few additions/changes due to our new 10/30/21 date. But that’s it.

I guess I should have specified. Def no cake in the fast lol I have the same view about hair and make up, so that was never on the table. This thought would be for a second engagement photo session on or around when we were supposed to get married. Cake smash similar to like a baby, and the “dirty 30” birthday shoot. Still no cake in the face. Ever. 😂😂

I think it's cute and fun. My fiance and I will most likely be smooshing cake in each others faces. I see nothing wrong with this trend. Some people would prefer to have some fun at their wedding instead of caring about their look the whole night and other care about how they look the whole night and would prefer to skip the cake smooshing. I'm not going to be worrying about how I look the whole entire night as long as the ceremony and pictures right after the ceremony are done, then I'm good with the cake smooshing.
