Responsive Readings for Ceremony

Danielle, on April 26, 2018 at 2:33 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
Hi Everyone!
So our officiant suggested doing a responsive reading for our ceremony to have our guests participate. Has anyone done this and would be willing to share what was said? We were given a sample from a previous wedding but I am not finding much online on it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would advise against this. Keep it short & sweet and to the point. Your guests will have a ton of time to interact with you and FS during your reception.

Not sure we are on the same page... the responsive reading would be printed on the programs and would go like this:

Officiant: Today we celebrate the marriage of Danielle and Joe.
Guests: May the joy of today continue through their lives.
Officiant: Today we affirm our love and support for them.
Guests: May they know this by our presence here today.

The one I have only has 8 lines but was going to shorten it a little. Our ceremony is already going to be pretty short as we have no other readings, are vows are super short and we aren't doing a unity ceremony.

I just think it's a good way to keep our guests into our ceremony since they are all there to celebrate and support us.

Is that a religious thing? I’ve never heard of it.

We had to do it once at a catholic wedding we attended. Some of it was in Latin. I found it strange but it was important to the bride so whatever.

I thought it did seem like a Catholic kind of thing to do but none of it is in Latin and does not mention anything religious.
