Restaurant for Vegas Dinner Reception?

Alaina, on November 27, 2017 at 2:42 PM Posted in Nevada Planning 0 3

I am planning a Spring 2018 wedding and am seeking restaurant recommendations for a Sunday evening dinner reception for 14 adults (including bride/groom). The ceremony will take place at the Valley of Fire (north of Las Vegas) and we'll be staying at the Vdara. We are open to locations anywhere in between the ceremony/hotel and throughout the Strip.

I don't want to do Maggiano's, but am interested in Mon Ami Gabi. I'd like recommendations for other places priced around the same as Mon Ami Gabi (~$65/plate, before alcohol).

I'd also appreciate any advice on how to navigate drinks. Only 11 people (of the 14) will be drinking, at an approximate rate of 3-4 drinks per person over 3 hours. What is the best strategy: open bar or pay per drink?

I have a recommendation, but it is not on the strip, it is in Freemont Street. It is Hugo's Cellar, downstairs in the Four Queens. The food is AMAZING, and pretty similar in price to Mon Ami Gabi. I would think that paying for drink might work well.

The ambiance cannot be beat for a wedding reception. Everyone working there is dressed in a tuxedo, and it has an "old world" feeling.

First, you are escorted to your table and the ladies receive a rose. Then the sommelier comes and lets you try the wine, and he verifies it is good, before he serves it to you.

Then after your waiter takes your order, a separate waiter comes and makes your salad tableside, and you decide what you want on it.

At some point, either before or after the entree (I cannot remember) you are given a tiny ice cream come with lemon sorbet to "cleanse your palate".

I cannot rave enough about their food, ambiance, and service. You also get plenty of food for your money, I've had the jumbo stuffed shrimp, and it was more food than I could eat.

Attached is a picture of the inside.

Wow @can'twait! This may convince me to take a trip to Vegas just to try that restaurant! Lol my FH will love you forever! He always wants to go to Vegas and I always nix it bc we've been several times and it's expensive. Plus there are other places I want to go that we haven't been to.

@Sara P, it is amazing!! Vegas can be expensive, but you can get REALLY great deals online. In fact, I have gotten deals at the Westgate on Groupon for 3 days for $99 and it came with a bottle of wine. It isnt right on the strip but it is about 1 block over and the last stop on the monorail, so it isnt inconvenient at all. It is a very nice updated hotel too.

Also, just an FYI for saving money, if you do stay there and want to use the monorail, if you go to the concierge you can get monorail tickets for 2 for 1 price, so I think I paid about $14 per person for 3 days usage.

    Have fun!
