Reusing bouquets as centerpieces?

Summerbride77, on December 9, 2018 at 11:54 AM Posted in Style and Décor 1 19

We had our consultation with our florist yesterday (!!!), it was awesome and I'm so excited, but our plan is to have a long kings table in the center of the room with the bridal party and their dates. I had my heart set on doing a long flower garland down the center... and then we saw the price for that... and no.

So onto plan B. Now we're thinking a fabric table runner and reusing the bridesmaids and my bouquets as centerpieces, with candles staggard down the table.

My question is, has anyone reused their bouquets as centerpieces? What did the table look like before the ceremony? How did the transition work? Pictures appreciated!

EDIT: the rest of the tables will have dedicated centerpieces, this would just be the king's table - it would be my bouquet in the middle with two bridesmaids bouquets on either side. It's a long table with 10 people on either side.

That king’s table sounds cool! Wait, what’s the price of garland???? I think some brides here ordered fresh garland from Costco and/or Sam’s Club and I thought it was $70 or so.

The only thing about using bouquets as centerpieces, as pointed out to us by a florist, is that usually the wedding party are still carrying their bouquets when they are announced, if you're doing a grand entrance, but at that point the guests are already seated at tables with empty vases. After she explained it, we decided against it and ordered inexpensive centerpieces for all the tables. However, the florist is going to have empty vases available and will re-purpose the bouquets on the cake table, bar, etc., so they'll still be used as part of the decor, but guests won't sit down to tables without flowers.

Through our florist, it was $25/foot, so it was going to be around $350. Which is just not what I'm okay with spending. Even if we leave the flowers out and just do greenery that's $15/foot. Moreover, it's not something we can donate afterward so it feels like a lot of money for something that will just get tossed after a few hours (even if it would be beautiful).

I will have to look into Costco, $70 is much more manageable.

Either way, I'm a little disappointed by okay with our Plan B. Just looking for ideas.

That's my biggest concern. This would only be for the table with the wedding party (one table). The rest of the tables will have dedicated centerpieces. I'm worried about the kings/head table look bare before the wedding party entrance.

We reused bouquets. Not as centerpieces but on cocktail tables around the dance floor. We just had my wedding planner grab them from everyone after the ceremony and go put them in vases during cocktail hour.

Unfortunately I don’t have a better picture of our table, this was from setting up the day before. (Pros are coming tomorrow!) But we did a similar thing. Tables had dedicated centerpieces. And then for our big table, we had empty vases spread out along the length of the table for the bridesmaids bouquets (and mine) to go into. We also had candles and mini pumpkins that I spray painted gold along the whole length of the table as well. (You can kind of see in the last picture.)

I know you’re worried about the table looking bare, but honestly, even though it seems like such a big detail now, you probably won’t even notice on your wedding day! I put so much work into details like centerpieces and cake, and everything was such a blur that I hardly noticed them during the reception!

We did this too. My florist had vases ready on the various accent tables and put our bouquets in them during cocktail hour. We even used them as centerpieces for our farewell brunch the next morning.

I plan on doing this. Each guest table will have a dedicated centerpiece but I’m going to use my girls’ bouquettes and my bridal bouquet on the sweetheart table. My coordinator will make sure they get placed during cocktail hour (don’t plan on walking in with them during introductions).

I used to work at a wedding venue and some brides did this! The vases would be empty before the ceremony and then we would go grab the bouquets after the ceremony and put them in the vases before everyone was seated. If people were already sitting we just said excuse me. No big deal. If your venue doesn’t have additional workers then have your bridesmaids place them in the vases!

I met with our decor person on Thursday and we plan to use my bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets as Centerpeices for some of the tables. No reason to let them go to waist!

We reused our bridesmaid bouquets as reception centerpieces!! It was a great tip from our florist and definitely saved us money!!

We had three different centerpiece styles: a tall arrangement, a low arrangement, and an arrangement that re-used the bridesmaid bouquets with a few scattered "mini arrangements". We didn't have a bridal party entrance and took all of our pictures before the ceremony, so as the bridesmaids walked out of the ceremony they passed off their bouquets right away to my planner! She put them on the tables to finish out the arrangements while our guests were enjoying cocktail hour.

I think it's a great idea and would just have your bridal party announced without their bouquets if you want to finish decorating your head table sooner!

Before the bouquets were put in...you can see the vases though.

I'll see if we have any other pictures that capture the whole table!

I don't know how big the Costco one was. I read brides using that or Sam's Club for their wedding and I thought what a great idea and fun splurge to decorate a holiday dining table.

I don't see why not! We are going to reuse the bouquets around the room, entry table, cake table, photobooth table, our sweetheart table. Who cares if they are not there right away! Get pretty vases or antique vessels to make the table spiced up before the flowers go in! When your wedding party comes in then you and husband, tell them to put them in the vases along with yours as you start your first dance or speeches or whatever your order of events are.

Thank you for letting me know!! This is a good discussion cause I was thinking of a Mr and Mrs sign too but also really wanted the floral effect on my signature table. I'm going to so this.

We reused our bridesmaids bouquets for centerpieces and had the florist make the same centerpieces for the other tables. They didn’t have them for the grand entrance which was fine since they did something Simple
& fun With their partners. Plus they were heavy, the grand entrance should be fun and hyping up the crowd for the bride and groom
