Reusing Bridesmaid bouquets?

Katy, on April 28, 2018 at 10:05 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13
I'm so excited, we just booked our florist! That was my last big vendor that I needed. I'm paying $1100 which includes:

My bouquet + free throw bouquet
5 bridesmaid bouquets (the maid of honor's will be slightly bigger)
8 boutonnieres
2 corsages
1 girl's flower halo
Loose cake flowers
13 birdcage centerpieces!!!!

We will be having 13 tables. The centerpieces come out to be $35 each, which I think is an awesome deal. My mom bought the cages on sale a few years ago so they were free lol. I was planning on reusing the bridesmaid bouquets as centerpieces so that I will only have to buy 8. That would save me about $175. The florist said it could be done but we would have to trim the bouquets before putting them in vases. And they may tilt.

FH thinks we should order all 13 centerpieces so that we dont have to worry about fixing up the bouquets. We have 5 hours in between the ceremony and reception (this is common with Latino weddings) so I think we could get it done. We will be taking photos during that time so the bridesmaids will need the bouquets.

We can afford to buy all 13 centerpieces. What do you guys think? What else could the bouquets be used for after the ceremony? I just want to get the most use out of them.

I'm confused, the bridesmaids keep them for themselves for a memory of the wedding. If you are using cages, why would you need them?

Sorry if it didn't make sense. I meant put the bridesmaid bouquets in vases as a centerpiece during the reception. They can take them home afterwards.
The rest of the tables would have the birdcage centerpiece

I could understand if the bouquets equaled half your centerpieces but I think it’s going to look odd with the cages on 8 tables and then just a vase with a bouquet on 5.

I’d but the centerpieces, but that’s me and I’m lazy. It’s more that I just wouldn’t want to have to worry about doing that.

Thanks that's what FH says too. It makes sense and now that I broke it down it's not a huge cost difference.

Daughter considered using the 5 BMs bouquets as centerpieces, but then the florist pointed out that since the guests will be at their tables before the bridal party in announced/enters the reception venue, there won't be any flowers on some tables when the guests are first seated. Once she explained it, we realized this wasn't going to work for us. Daughter ordered low centerpieces for all tables, but there will be vases on the cake table, bar, etc., so the BMs can put their bouquets in water so they aren't just laying on their tables. They'll definitely take them (with the vase) home at the end of the night.

I hadn't thought about the entrance. They definitely wouldn't work as centerpieces. Thanks for pointing that out! I will probably put them at different spots around the venue also.

I find bridesmaids bouquets to be too small to be the only thing on the table. I usually see them end up on bars and the cake table. I have never seen a bridesmaid take it home with them and they are usually not nice looking at the end of the night.

I don’t think it’s a bad idea, but I’m personally doing everything I can to make less work for myself. It would be worth it to me to just buy centerpieces and knock one thing off the to do list the day of.

I would just have your florist do all 13 tables and let your BM's keep their bouquets for pictures and intro.

I’m doing this. As long as the bridesmaids bouquets match the other centerpieces it’s fine. After the ceremony, the bouquets will be moved to the reception tables while the party goes to cocktail hour in another area so it works out. After the ceremony, I don’t see a reason for my bridesmaids to hold onto the bouquets. And I definitely don’t see it as a keepsake or memory thing for them afterwards. I’ve never seen a bridesmaid take them home, like a precious poster said too.
