Review of our Costco Mountain Bouquet (Growers Choice) Budget friendly 10 bouquets for $99

Laura, on June 11, 2016 at 7:31 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 40

Before I ordered, I couldn't find many pictures online of the flowers, how they arrived and etc, so we took some for this review. Anyhow hope it helps another bride Smiley smile

The flowers arrived in an 11 lb box by FedEx. They had been cut in Ecuador the Saturday before, bundled up and shipped to North America.

They arrived in good shape and were very beautiful. All of the lilies were closed. I cut all of the flowers at a slant and put them in 5 gallon buckets (2 of them) and added flower food as soon.

We made our own dollar store mercury glass vases which worked perfectly with the small bouquets. 20 bucks for 12 vases, including dollar vases and mirror spray (see youtube instructions).

Once we had our vases, and foam for wet arrangements in each vase and moistened, the work was easy. We did find the arrangements needed more color, even for our low key ivory and silver theme. We went back to Costco and bought a couple dozen yellow roses for color.

Thanks Ryan. Yes, Costco is a wholesale club. The flowers were ordered online with my membership. They were 99 bucks...so very affordable. http://www.costco.com/Mountain-Bouquet-(growers-Choice)-10-Bouquets,-150-Stems---Multiple-Color-Options-Available.product.100120765.html

Happy it helped ya'll! I had 10 tables, and had enough with the extra 2 dozen roses yellow flowers and I think I picked up another dozen of ivory roses, come to think of it. I even had a couple arrangements on the appetizer and cake tables. The roses are 16.99 for 2 dozen at the local Costco. May brides may want to find out which weekend the local proms are, or you may find your favorite add-in colors gone (this happened to us). If you give enough time to call ahead, I think the local Costco can get you what you want (there is a number posted).

The vases...I followed instructions on the videos for making mercury glass vases from cheap dollar store vases. The paint did not hold up on the inside of the vases, it scratched off in places. I had a better effect spraying the outside anyhow. They worked just fine for the event, just don't plan on reselling, they weren't great after taking out the flowers.

Thanks Everyone. Again, because I was on a budget looking at those flowers, I wanted to see someone's real life experience, so here's to future brides! I would order them 3 days ahead, so the flowers can open up. We also made boutineers and corsages from the flowers...so it was pretty cheap.

Yes, spray paint job Smiley smile The faux mercury glass was not hard. I found a tutorial that shows the technique. I used a different paint and again, the inside of the glass had places the paint rubbed off/didn't adhere well. they had dried a week or two. I had also cleaned them well before hand...so not sure why.

My sister was great with the flowers. Worked at a florist in High School and said to feed the flowers. I found this flower food recipe online to make the flowers stay fresher longer. However, the Costco flowers did come with packets.

    Stolen from the internet:

Make homemade plant food: Flowers need food, water, and a clean environment. So their water should have a little food, like sugar, and some bleach to slow fungi and bacteria growth. Here's a basic home recipe: 1 quart water 2 tablespoons lemon juice 1 tablespoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon bleach

I would have never thought to look at Costco for flowers. Which is funny because it is my go-to when I buy a bouquet for a gift. And... It's Costco, how did I not think I'd be able to buy them in bulk?!

Anyway, thanks for posting this!!! Your arrangements look great!

Thanks again everyone. I hope this helps a bride. Also, on the flip side of 3 weeks out can I say what a RELIEF it is that the wedding is over and our lives are beginning in the every day mode. It was beautiful and perfect to us and our lives but....it's only one very expensive day out of many happy days. Hang in there!

I hope your flowers turn out as well, mahalobeauty. It took a few hours of cutting and fixing, so I would allow 8-10 manhours worth of time, at least (but you could be faster than I am/we were!). My grown daughter, sister and myself were busy the day before the wedding with flowers, but it was a fun kind of busy with family.

I wish all of you beautiful ladies well.
