Ribbon wall v. Flagging tape

Allymonbanana, on April 23, 2016 at 10:41 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

So I posted about a monster of a wall I need to decorate last week or so. I got a few suggestions but I still wanted to have a ribbon wall. since that would be pricey, I started looking for alternatives. I came across flagging tape. Has anyone used flagging tape to decorate before? In this photo it doesn't look bad so I am optimistic about it. I would like to use purple and white tape and then place a banner on top. Suggestions? I'm on the search this weekend to find purple just to get an idea of the shade.

Awe that looks really nice. No I haven't tried it myself but I see Amazon has some options. Maybe try there?

On the blog post where I took the screenshot from, lists a great website. I just want to see the color in person before I buy it and it's the wrong shade of purple

It's a really cute idea. I had no idea something like that was even out there. I found the website you're talking about, and it looks like it would be pretty cheap to buy a roll of each color you're considering. It looks like it would only cost about $10 including shipping to try out a couple of rolls, then you'll know for sure that it matches.

It's the perfect price point! The blogger used it for so many other things for her wedding too. It looked really cute

It sounds like a great alternative. The only thing I've noticed, when I use it at work is one side has more of a shine to it than the other. It may just be the brand but something to remember then you are assembling it.

The blog post was really helpful. It just depends on your wedding colors

I've been trying to come up with something for big bits of wall too and this is a great idea! Did you have a bar to attach it to though? Not sure how I'd attach it!

Depends on your wall. Our wall is like a push pin texture so we may be able to "tack" it to the wall. Or string it through something

I ordered the flagging tape and I love it! We are going to cover that ugly wall with a "ribbon wall" with the flagging tape and have a banner over it. The banner will have song lyrics from our first dance. I am SO excited!

Here is a first look of how the flagging tape will be covering a long wall in the banquet hall. It looks so much better than I thought it would. This is WAY cheaper than using ribbon!
