Ring Bearer Age?

Emily, on June 5, 2018 at 1:58 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 17
Hi everyone!
I have two young cousins I've been considering having as ring bearers. The wedding isn't until next fall, and by then the boys will be 7 and 6 years old. I'm wondering, is that too old to be a ring bearer? I certainly don't want to embarrass the boys, but I really have no idea what mindset boys of that age have.

No, I don't think that's too old at all. Plus, the younger they are the higher the chances mistakes might be made. 6 and 7 are the perfect ages for this task.

I think that's fine. We're using my two nephews because they're literally the only kids on both sides of our families, and they're 10 and 7

I don’t think there’s a certain age for ring bearer, if anything I feel 6 and 7 is a very cute age

I think 6 is a great age. My soon to be step son will be 5 and I'm still a little worried at that age and not letting him walk alone and hes giving the rings straight to FH when he walks down the aisle

That's not too old at all! Our ring bearer is 7. I honestly think that's the perfect age because they'll feel special in the position and be able to stand somewhat still and behave decently throughout the ceremony and pictures.

Not at all. My RB was a couple weeks shy of 9 and he was super excited to be in the wedding. He was in my sister's wedding 11 months later too.

I think that's perfect age! They'll be a little more aware of what's going on. My son is going to be our ring bearer and he is 4. I love that he's going to be part of our wedding, but I wish he was a little bit older just bc I know how he can be in those types if situations. But anyways, I think they'll be excited to be the center of attention for a moment. 😊

Our 8 year old son was a ring bearer at ours and he was so excited and proud to do it. He loved feeling like he was responsible enough to hold onto the rings.

I think 6 and 7 are perfect ages to be the ring bearer. Our son will be 3.5 at the time of the wedding and is super silly (in a fun way) so we will give him an empty box to transport and the best man will hold the rings.

I don't believe there is an age bracket that you have to follow for a ring bearer, as long as they're old enough to understand the role that they play in your wedding. My nephew is 8 and he will be our ring bearer. I have two close friends who both have 3 year-old boys, they'll be closer to 4 by the time of wedding, but to me that's too young to trust them with the wedding rings and doing what they need to- so we're going to have them carry a sign that says "here comes the bride"
