Ring Bearer...do I need a pillow

erica, on September 21, 2011 at 5:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

Do I need to purchase a pillow for my ring bearer? He is 6 and will not have the actual rings (for obvious reasons.) I am 4 weeks out and the little costs are really starting to add up, as I am sure you all know.

What are your thoughts? Should I do an actual pillow? Or just have him walk with the flower girl. She may not have a basket of flowers either to save money (she is 3.)

I'm not doing a pillow...but my RB is also walking my dog down the aisle...so I figure having one thing in each hand would confuse a 2 year old and be too much. Smiley smile

I'm sure you could forgo the pillow...it's your wedding Smiley smile

I think it would be nice if they held something but i dont think it needs to be a pillow.

Maybe he could hold (an empty) ring box or somthing along those lines that you may already have at home?

I made pillows for my ring bearers. They were really simple and I paid less than $10 for all of the materials to make 2 pillows.

I'm pretty sure you could pick up a ring bearer pillow at the dollar store. If you have some extra ribbon laying around that matches your wedding colors you could put it on there to spice it up a bit.

I think the empty ring box is also a good idea since you will probably have one from your wedding ring.

You could make use of any container that you could dress up yourself, or anything that has a sentimental value that you want to be included in your wedding. you could check google images for wedding pillow alternatives and it has lots of great ideas.

What about having them carry a banner or a sign? I have seen this in alot of photos and it's adorable. Signs and banners can be DIYed fairly easily and cheap.

You don't have to have a pillow if you don't want one. I've come across pics of lots of substitutes. Today I saw someone that used a small pumpkin with ribbon for their fall wedding. And I must say it was really nice. So basically its up to you!!!
