Ring bearer: Yes! Or Skip!

The Bride, on July 20, 2019 at 6:09 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 29
Most people know that the ring bearer walks down the aisle carrying a pillow with two rings tied to it, but do you know why?

Will you have a ring bearer at your wedding? Why or why not?

I don’t know where the tradition came from, but now I’m curious!
Our son will be our ring bearer, but I will also probably have him walk with me down the aisle unless I decide to walk alone. We have a son (6) and daughter (5), so they will each have a role in the wedding and we want to include them in a unity ceremony too.

I looked it up and saw a variety of answers but nothing definite. Maybe someone else knows for sure.
That will be a really cool mix for your son to walk you down the aisle and hold the rings. At my wedding the best man and maid of honor held the rings.

No idea where tradition came from!
Because my venue doesn't allow us to throw things (it's on the beach) I won't have a flower girl so I felt like a ring bearer will be weird. I might have my sister hold them and bring them up for us.

I won’t be having a ring bearer. We have children together so they will be standing up with us and can hold the rings.

I would feel more comfortable with an adult holding the rings anyway Smiley xd

My grandsons, who will be 3 and 5, will be "ring bearers" without actually holding the rings. They are actually escorting my granddaughter, who will also be 3, who is my flower girl. The boys will be on either side of her, helping her spread the petals.

Hmm. Interesting. I was actually struggling with this one because I have a nephew that I've only really seen a few times in person. My sister and I are somewhat cool but don't have as close of a relationship like we used to. We have different moms so we weren't raised together for most our lives.

Although we will have kids at our wedding, I don't want to feel obligated to have my nephew as a ring bearer because he's family. Thanks to this post, I'll probably just opt out of having one and then not have a flower girl either to make it less awkward.

Absolutely! I have 4 nephews, and they’re all going to be my ringbearers. I’m really close to them so I couldn’t imagine getting married without them up there with us!

No they aren’t in the wedding party. We don’t have a wedding party but my 2 older kids are giving me away since they are from a precious marriage and our son we have together will be standing with us also. It’s a family coming together as 1 not juts him and I.

I think that's a good option since the relationship isn't really close.
