Ring came back from resizing too big

Emily, on December 14, 2023 at 6:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
My engagement ring just came back from being resized. It still feels too big, and moves/slides quite a bit. It isn't going to fall off on its own, but it does come off pretty easily when I try.

I just went out to another store to see if we sized it incorrectly the first time, and the gentleman working said it was sized perfectly, and just sold me a spacer! The problem I have with this is by the time I got to the store, I was pretty hot from wearing my coat and walking through the mall. While I was at home, it felt much bigger.
It doesn't seem ideal to wear a spacer indefinitely, should I go somewhere else and try another size, or am I overthinking this? The last thing I want to do is lose it, and I really don't want to send it out again.
Help!

It sounds like your fingers swell when you are warmer, which is very common. My fingers are a whole size bigger during the summer than they are the winter. Before permanently altering your ring again, I would wear the sizer for now and see if your ring fits perfectly during the warmer months. If that’s the case, then you will probably just have to wear a sizer during colder months

I agree about waiting until it gets warmer and wearing the spacer for now. I have tiny bony fingers myself lol (size 4.5) and I have spoken to several of my married friends about this issue since I got my ring - being concerned about it moving around too much - and they all said they have the same issue in the colder months. One wears a size 4 ring and it STILL moves around! For me, mine probably wouldn’t come off without exerting considerable effort but it’s still looser than I thought. It just seems to be a byproduct of having skinny fingers unfortunately.

If you’re planning to have kids though, I hear that can perma-make it tighter! So, there’s that at least!

I would get another ring in the smaller size (just something cheap) and wear it around for a while. I got my ring resized 3 times... it's finally the right size and I'm so glad that I continued to size down until it actually fit. I do not like it to be loose. I'm 10 lbs heavier now than usual and it's a bit tight but because I wear it every day I really prefer it that way.

Yes, get a smaller band to wear with the ring. It's trendy as well.
