Ring decision

Zoe, on July 9, 2019 at 6:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I need opinions please! So my engagement ring (the ring pictured below with the stone) has had to be repaired twice in the last year because the band keeps bending. I do not wear the ring while sleeping or going to the gym or anything active. I spoke with the jeweler today and they suggested switching out the band for a thicker version. They sent me these pictures with the white gold version of the band next to my ring. My problem is - Now I think I like the white gold better! I am also weary of getting rose gold again since its apparently such a soft medal. Which does everyone like better?!

I think choosing a band for your ring is a very personal thing. Everybody likes something different. For me personally I like white gold but that’s just me.

They both look great. I would go with the white gold if you feel more comfortable with it. I read that rose gold is supposed to be just as durable as white and yellow gold. Go with a platinum for more durability.

My mom has white gold and has had no issues with it. Mine is rose gold and have had no issues but I’ve only had it a few months.

I LOVE rose gold! That being said, I am so happy that my rings are white gold. I just think it looks more "bridal" and classic (even though really, yellow gold is "classic"?) It goes with everything and, as rough as I am, my white gold band has stood up to every test for the last 18 months, only now being sent out to get dipped, and I have not been particularly nice to it as I often just forget I have it on while doing stuff around the house cause its kind of just a part of me now. I would choose rose gold for every bit of jewelry over anything else every other time, but for my rings, I love my white gold.

What are your plans for a wedding band? Will it be soldered to your e ring? If so, I would be curious if that would help strengthen it up!

I personally love to rose gold, btw!

Any type of gold is a soft metal - just so you know! I have white gold and my rings bend all the time. That said - if you like the white gold better and you were going to change it anyway, go for it! They are both beautiful.

Great question - I'm no jeweler, but I'd expect that soldering it could help a lot if you're interested in that.
