Ring opinions

Opinions on my ring set please! The middle 3 stone is my engagement ring, which I love! But I’m not so sure about the ring enhancer.. we already purchased it and I can’t exchange. I didn’t realize my ering would sit so high and the only way to really fix it is to get it soldered. I don’t want to do that! I’m thinking about asking for a normal band for the one year anniversary. I feel really bad that he paid for this and I don’t feel satisfied. Ring opinions 1

You could always wear that band on your other hand since it’s so pretty on its own! And then get the simple band to go with your engagement ring. That way you might not feel as guilty about it!

If you are really unhappy with it, I would speak to the jeweler you got it from. Nearly all jewelers will “buy back” rings. (And if not, take it to another independent jeweler- someone will buy it from you). Now, you aren’t going to get what you paid for it… but you should get enough to be able to put towards a simpler band (either to pay for it completely, or at least cover most of the cost, depending on what you want to get). I know it’s disappointing to spend a lot of money on an item, then not be able to get the same amount out of it, but if you don’t enjoy your current ring, and don’t want to wear it, then it seems worth it to take the loss and get something you love.

How long have you had and worn the set?

You might find you get used to it and it grows on you over time. To me the set looks really bulky, but I never really wear jewelry and prefer really dainty, delicate pieces.

I picked out my own wedding band (a plain contoured rose gold band with no embellishments). I wanted something that paired with my e-ring (rose gold with a gray round center diamond flanked by two smaller triangular white sapphires) but that I could also wear on its own, because I envisioned times when I wouldn't want to wear my e-ring due to fear of damage or loss. As it turns out, I wear my silicone ring 98% of the time and usually opt for that when I want a more "casual" option, and pretty much only wear my metal rings in tandem for nice occasions (especially with Covid, as I'm washing my hands all the time). At one point I decided I didn't like my wedding band that I had picked out because it was thicker than I wanted it to be when paired with my e-ring and I felt the metal overwhelmed the stones. There was a phase of a few months where I just wanted a different ring. However, I tried on my e-ring with some different wedding band options and in the end decided I actually liked the wedding band I picked out best. If I redid it all over again I might just not have bothered getting a wedding band at all, and wearing my e-ring alone for special times and then just my silicone band at other times.

Anyway, if the set is pretty new to you, I'd recommend wearing it for some time before you decide you truly don't like it.

I just picked the enhancer up on Saturday. I’m not wearing it together yet because we aren’t officially married (no date set, thinking about eloping). My fiancé picked out the ering himself. I have no problem with it, I really do love it. I’ve had it for almost a year now. I went on my own and picked out the enhancer. I loved the way it sparkled in the jewelry store lighting lol. Sparkly things tend to draw me in.

If you picked it out, chances are you actually like it but are just second guessing because people do that. I think there is something about the chase being "over" and a decision being final that sometimes scares us!

I'm not sure how long you looked before picking your enhancer, but if you went to one jewelry shop and made a quick decision, you might just not be sure it was the right one, and it might help to shop around more and make sure this is "the one" for you. I ordered my band online, sight unseen, from the same jeweler as my e-ring because I wanted the contour to be correct. I think not being able to see it before deciding and not having shopped for other options made me a little less certain it was the right decision. Only after going around more and buying a second ring (that I don't like and have never worn) did I feel more confident that my original right was "right" for me.

I do think it looks really pretty, and if you like sparkly, it seems like a really good fit because your e-ring has a plain band and this really adds extra sparkle and frames your e-ring main stones so nicely.

Also, all the enhancers I have seen work around your e-ring, so I'm not sure why this enhancer would cause your e-ring to sit higher than the e-ring does on its own, and I'm also not sure how soldering it would make a difference. Is it possible the enhancer just doesn't fit your e-ring correctly (perhaps it was designed for a narrower band and the spacing from the top enhancer band to the bottom one just needs to be extended)? I tried on enhancers with my e-ring and none of them changed how my e-ring sat on my finger.

I like it. I think it allows your engagement ring to speak for itself, while the enhancer has its own subtle beauty.
