Ring Order!

Jessica, on August 10, 2020 at 2:40 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13

Hey everyone! Im confused about what happens with the rings during a ceremony. Do you wear your engagement ring down the isle then your wedding band is placed on during the ceremony? Is your engagement ring on a different finger or hand and put next to the band after the ceremony?

Follow up which ring do you put on first on a normal day after the wedding?

I wore mine down the aisle then my husband slid on myband. Then I switched it around after ceremony. It goes band then e-ring.

Or however you prefer and what is comfortable to you. I’ve seen it both ways.

I wore my engagement ring, and my husband put my wedding band on top. When we were done with the ceremony I switched it so the band would be first, followed by my engagement ring.

I've heard and seen brides walk down barehanded and then get the band placed on their finger. Then afterward, they'll add their engagement ring. I'll be walking barehanded as well. I'm getting an enhancer and I want to have it soldered together before the wedding.

It would be a weird struggle to hold my engagement ring in the middle of enhancer and make sure it slides on my finger perfectly without falling or getting dropped. As Renee said, you can wear it either way but some only wear the band and store their e-ring as well.

I wore my engagement ring down the aisle on my right hand (luckily both my ring fingers are the same size!) then at some point after the wedding band was on my left hand I switched the engagement ring to the left as well. Normally your wedding band is first on - I never take mine off unless I’m doing something like going to a water park, but I do take my engagement ring off at night (and I don’t wear it swimming or in the shower or if I’m doing anything rough with my hands),

If I had thought this through, I would've walked down the aisle with my engagement ring on my right hand. I did not think it through, so I left it on, switched it during the ring part, and immediately switched it back before even putting his ring on him.

I walked down with my engagement ring on my right hand, then he placed my wedding band (which never comes off) and after we recessed, I switched my engagement ring back to my left hand (stacked on my band)

I'm following Jasmine's - I'll be barehanded as my ring will be placed into an enhancer.

I wore my engagement ring on my right hand. My husband put my band on my left hand then after the ceremony I put my engagement back on my left hand.

I wore my engagement ring on the normal finger and he put the wedding band on top of it. I switched them around after the ceremony.

I have a ring stack so I do something different every day. Sometimes I wear both on one hand, sometimes just my wedding band and sometimes just my engagement ring. Just depends on what I’m feeling that day.

You can do it many ways. For us, my wedding band is a wrap that my e-ring fits into the middle of (a band on either side of my e-ring), so took the whole set off and put it in the ring box with his ring for the ceremony.

You can do it however you want. I totally forgot and just moved it off my left ring finger right before the ring exchange then put it back after he put the wedding band on. The band is supposed to be the one closest to you. The tradition of wearing a wedding band on your left ring finger goes back to the belief that a vein connects your heart and that finger so you want the band closest to your heart. Different cultures do different things though. For instance, Polish people traditionally wear their weddings bands on the right hand.
