I just need to rant about how crazy repair costs can be. I have a beautiful wedding band I love with my entire heart. The only problem is it is an eternity band. I just need to rant about how crazy repair costs can be. I have a beautiful wedding band I love with my entire heart. The only problem is it is an eternity band. As a jewelery professional I knew I was in for it when I was gifted the band. I just got back from my closest bench jeweler buddy and he quoted me $2k to repair two loose stones in the channel setting. I was quoted $2,500 but a local AGS jeweler but I can't afford either quote rn.

Super bummed I can't wear my wedding band until I can afford to repair it. Smiley cry Feel free to post your repair rants here!

Wow that is crazy expensive! I'm glad you are going to get to Argentina to have it fixed. I am lucky that the jeweler who made mine is literally right around the corner from us since my e-ring is getting fixed right now. I looked down on Monday and noticed one of the smaller side stones was missing so he's fixing it for free and super inspecting it to make sure the rest of them are nice and secure.

Currently our insurance only covers loss or if it's destroyed. We only have the receipt right now. I never got the chance to make the appointment to get it appraised (which was required for additional insurance which could cover repairs) before it broke.

It's a higher purity silver. My ring is Arg 960 (96%) meaning it's a much higher purity alloy than most silvers in the US (Silver 925 which is 92.5% pure).

All of the US jewelers I talked to said they'd have to source the silver which means it'd be a special order so I'd have to pay whatever cost it is for them to get it.

Insurance would be an option but the jeweler in Argentina is my husband's uncle so we may skip the insurance if his shop will continue to fix it for free. The cost of our insurance going up for a claim may not be worth it if we can just wait and have it be free.

We went really cheap with our rings. My original wedding band was this skinny hollow rose gold band but my MIL gifted me this gorgeous ring. I wear my other ring for dressing up as a right hand ring.

Wow! I feel like this is a good PSA for eternity bands! Hope the original jeweler can fix it like you mentioned!
