Ring setting cost

Katie B to S, on November 4, 2016 at 1:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

2nd post of the day, sorry.

I'm considering putting the diamond from my ring in a different setting, it was my grandmothers so I want to keep it, but it's not exactly my style and finding a wedding band to go with it has been incredibly difficult.

For those who have done resetting how much would you estimate doing this to cost?

Here's my current ring

What I want is something like the bottom ring (obv my ring is smaller) with a v- curve band instead of straight to go with the wedding band we picked

The answer to this would be all over the place. It depends on what setting you pick out. It could be anywhere from a few hundred dollars (something super simple) to thousands (name brand designer setting like Tacori or similar). It really all depends on what setting you want. I would suggest visiting a jewelry store and looking at settings to get a real number.

I am all about you having the ring you like but damn, I love that ring. I'd almost rather see you resell that vintage piece to someone who will love it whole than reset the diamond (and older cuts are often not as sparkly, you may not like that diamond in a new setting). That ring is amazing.

This could vary greatly. I'd just take the ring to a jeweler and see what kind of settings they have for a diamond that shape. I love the style you're looking at!

I had a very similar setting - it was my moms and I wanted to keep the diamond- so we reset it... it was affordable and definitely worth it because it's meaningful. I agree with the others go to a jeweler and ask them to price out how much it would be I got an idea of what I wanted off of Pinterest and showed them

If I had your g'ma's ring, I would wear it as both my e-ring and wedding band (not add another band) OR wear it as a right-hand ring and get something else for my left hand.

Amw, I love it too... I've been very back and forth about it which is why I was interested in price point before making an actual decision. The baguettes are just driving me nuts... we have already picked out the band and I think it'll look ok either way

Totally agree with Nancy T: keep it as a right hand ring and get a new ring for your left. It's so beautiful! The style isn't modern, but styles have a way of coming back around and your daughter/granddaughter may love to have it just the way it is!
