Ring Shopping: Modern or Traditional?

FH picked out the ring himself, and though it's beautiful it's not my style so I kind of wish past me hadn't been so adamant that the proposal be traditional. I just really didn't want a diamond, but he had in his head from his family that an engagement ring has to be diamond.

We went ring shopping initially. But when he proposed, the ring was not we picked. It was way better!

He took me to figure out what i wanted. picked out my must haves (emerald shape) and then we walked through and looked at different settings and talked about what we liked and didnt like. we have similar taste so i wasnt too worried. he didnt propose with my ring (sentimental story) but when he gave me my ring i definitely teared up. it's perfect!

He surprised me with what he knew I would love and he was right!!!

Traditional

My fh had a sapphire from his great grandmother that he had set in a ring he designed. It has a diamond on each side of it. It's beautiful. He did a wonderful job designing it and I love that it has sentimental value to it as well

We went to the store together and FH let me pick out my ring.

We picked it out together online.

Traditional mostly- my Fh knew the style I liked as I like looking at rings when we’re on vacation- not engagement just different rings- and he knew I preferred sapphire to diamond for the main gem. He got me an oval sapphire flanked by two small diamonds and my wedding band is white sapphires. Absolutely in love!

FH picked it out all on his own We were on a cruise and the very first night I went to take a nap (jet lag) and in the two hours I slept, FH had bought me a ring with his mama buy his side! Through the entire trip, he kept taking me into the jeweler's to look at jewelry because he wanted to get me "something nice for Christmas" and he needed ideas. We don't usually jewelry shop together lol I find it awkward for me. I joked with him about just getting me a ring because I don't really wear jewelry. Little did I know, 3 weeks later he would pop the question with the ring he had THE ENTIRE TIME lol

Modern. I went with him, but he picked out the ring and asked me if I liked it. He was going to do it traditionally, but the store had closed by the time he got there. So he just went ahead an proposed without the ring! ❤️

Modern! I ring shopped on my own for months! (I’m very indecisive). When I narrowed it down to 2 I told him to pick which one he liked best. Luckily he picked the one I loved! We went to go buy it together, and I even knew when he was going to propose. 😂

Modern! I picked it myself 🤣😂 I had been dropping hints, leave browsing histories up, sending links to my best friend in case he went to her. In the end, we went to the jewelry store together to pick up the ring I liked. They didn't have it, so we shopped around together, but we ultimately ordered the original ring online (it was a set). We will do the same for his ring, when the time comes.

Traditional! I had no idea he was going to even propose. He also got me a traditional round solitaire and it’s perfect ♥️

My fiance went onto my pinterest board without me knowing to see the rings i had picked out on there. he then went to pick it out and literally picked out the exact style of ring i always wanted. i had no involvement in the process and he had the ring for 3 months before he proposed.

It was 50/50. He bought me two rings, the first ring was a complete surprise, but I was allergic to it so FH wanted to get me another ring. He didn't know what to get me the second time around so I helped him pick.

We picked the ring out together, he knows that I’m extremely picky.

I knew what I liked, but ended up having zero say because he proposed with a ring left to him by his grandmother, which his great grandfather had made!

It's such a sweet story and a super special ring that I will definitely treasure forever.
