Rings re-sized & Soldered

Sarah, on November 11, 2014 at 6:16 PM Posted in Married Life 0 7

We got married exactly one month ago. Ever since I started wearing both rings together they have felt a little bit too snug. Today I took it in to a jewelry repair place in the mall. They soldered, re-sized and cleaned it for $60. It only took a few hours and it looks and feels fabulous! If you're on the fence about soldering, at least consider it. My rings came as a set. One would spin around and the other not, making the diamonds not line up. Now the wow factor is through the roof.

Good to know. I need my e-ring resized down and I've been drag gin my feet to do it because I'm terrified one of the stones will come loose or something else happens during the process so this makes me feel better.

I soldered my bands before but don't plan to this time. My bands can be worn two ways, either with the engagement ring between the bands or the bands stacked and then the engagement ring, so I want to keep the flexibility. My issue is my ring barely fitting over my knuckles, but then spinning around once it's at the base of my finger. Ugh...

If anything ever happens to one of your rings they will need to take apart all your rings which can cause damage to the ring. My jewelry store won't even do this because the negetive aspects outweigh the good.

I'm not concerned about the stones on my particular ring. The diamonds are 1/3 carat t.w., but I have the very small speckly diamonds everywhere, even where the center stone typically sits. We picked the set out for $175 at Wal-Mart. If anything were to ever happen it is easily replaceable.

I'm still considering it. I love the idea behind it but on some days I like wearing my e-ring on my right hand.

When I talked to the jeweler who made my e-ring, they recommended getting them soldered together because the rings rubbing against each other and twisting against each other can cause extensive damage. I will be getting mine soldered together because I am a perfectionist and if the diamonds don't line up just right it will drive me crazy!!!

My rings came as a set too! The other day i tried them both on at the same time, for the first time, and found out i actually couldnt fit both rings on my finger at once! They are at my favorite jewelry store right now getting resized. Smiley smile i can hardly wait to have my engagement ring back on. I feel so nakid without it!
