Fast forward to today and a little over a year out from our wedding and I weigh in at 196lbs. Totally went in the wrong directionSmiley cry Have any of you had good results. I’m hoping I can stick with my motivation and lose at least 30 lbs within a year. Fingers crossedSmiley laugh

You could lose 60 lbs(if you wanted to) in a year, easily! That’s only 5 lbs a month. Losing weight is more what you eat than how much you exercise. MyFitnessPal is super helpful. I never realized how many calories are in things until I started tracking on there. You got this!

One thing that helped me a lot was to stop buying junk food. I'm the kind of girl where if it's there, I'll eat it, and I know that, so the best fix was to stop buying it altogether, plus it helped save money!
Another big thing is soda, I used to drink a lot but I cut way down on it and it helped so much. I drink mostly water now and it helps keeps me from being bloated and helps keep my skin clear and keeps me from getting headaches.
Another tip would be to eat smaller meals or snacks more often. When I lost most of my weight I was eating small snacks (mostly low fat Greek yogurt every 2-3 hours between meals, it kept me from overeating at meal time and bingeing at night.
But most importantly, try not to stress, I know it can be hard but stressing doesn't help at all. I'm sure you'll look beautiful no matter what!

My mom does weight watchers and uses the app, she likes it and has seen results since she can eat what she wants in moderation. The app is about 24.99 for 3 months or something.

My friend did a 30 day Arbonne detox and she lost 20 pounds just from that. Just have to find a distributer.

I suggest just cutting out carbs and sugars because those are what usually cause the most damage weight wise. Eat more fruits and veggies. Don't drink sugary soda, tea, juices with added sugars. Read labels. Cut sweets and eat fruit to curb the sweet tooth. Drink TONS of water, hydration is important and also helps curb appetite.

So the day before i started i fasted to help with the shock of lack of sugar and low carbs (you can feel groggy and week the first 2-3 days) but really all you have to do is make sure youre getting in enough water and electrolytes (do this the day prior) then you just make sure what you are eating has "no sugar" you can have blue black and raspberries but in minimal amounts. You want the majority of your eating to be healthy fats (its hard to do and we dont always get it in). We cook with a lot of oils, olive, avocado and coconut mostly. We eat a lot of avocado, heavy cream in coffee. Then its proteins and carbs. You want to keep carbs around 20g per day. And lemme tell you its really easy once you get into the groove of what you can eat. And the food is the best. Pinterest has been amazing for us for recipes. Anything we want to eat we go to pinterest and for example type in keto lasagna and theres recipes. Its the best lasagna ever. Theres also super quick and easy things to make. Type in quick keto meals, snacks, desserts, etc. We started doing this a couple weeks before deciding to get married and we will stay on it even after the wedding because we love it. And im the type that loves candy more than food😂 Once we reach our goal weight we can add in more carbs (healthy carbs) to maintain. Also (this will come naturally cause you wont be starving all the time cause your body has the right fuel) youll want to do intermitten fasting. It sounds intimidating and hard but its the easiest thing ive ever done and ive done all those crazy crash diets. My only regret is not starting sooner

On lazy days or on the go when we cant cook we eat beef sticks (with 5 g of carbs or under and 1-2 sugars less if you can find them) pork rinds, lunch meat and cheese, almonds, pickles, just throw together random snacks. We dont do keto perfectly and weve had a few cheat meals but just the huge change in our diets has made such a difference. If you have any more questions please ask

You can definitely lose that weight in a year. A HUGE misconception about losing weight is that you have to have a low carb low fat diet. Please for the love of god don't do that, your body needs carbs and healthy fats everyday!! Eat lots of protein!! The biggest key to losing weight is muscle!! the more muscle you have the less body fat you will have. While cardio every once in a while is important start weight training, use barbells and free weight it! Research has proven that weight training helps you lose more weight than cardio ever will! Cut out as much bad sugar as you can and try to eat healthier honestly what it really is, is 20% exercise and 80% diet. Don't forbid yourself from enjoying some things either because that's where you will fail is if you deprive yourself of the foods you crave every once in a while. I follow lots of Instagram fitness vloggers my favorite is Elizabeth Zaks, she is so real about diet and exercise you should check her out. Make sure to educate yourself before you start your journey. Good luck! You got this!

I've mentioned this in a few posts so sorry to those reading it again, but beachbody.com is awesome! I'm doing the 21 day fix and like the other posters have been saying, it's mainly diet (which is my problem cause hello chocolate is delicious). But this program helps with diet and excersize! Its kinda expensive but if you find a friend to split it with its not so bad. And having a friend keeps you on track too!

I've lost 45 lbs doing Keto. I've been eating this way for 18 months now and my DH and I plan to eat this way the rest of our lives. Start by cutting out sugar, grains, and processed foods. You'd be surprised how much better you'll feel just eating fresh/organic foods!

I would advise against doing anything with a multi level marketing company like Beachbody or Arbonne. I don’t support these types of companies because most are pretty shady and the products are very overpriced and not of good quality.

I am trying to lose around 25lbs by next April. I started exercising in March and dieting in June. It’s been a slog so far, I’ve lost no weight. I think this was due to the fact that I was on Singulair so I stopped taking it. I’m not into crash diets, I eat balanced meals and avoid processed foods and excessive sugar. I strength train with a barbell and I’m doing Alexa Jean fitness 30 day ab challenge. I’ve gained since I weighed myself last week and I’m pretty upset. I think losing weight just takes a lot of time, but you can do it.

MyFitnessPal has been really helpful for me. Ultimately, what it comes down to is calories in and calories out. Having a meal plan that works with your caloric intake goals is the way to go. I try to avoid eating out. I allow myself 1 or 2 cheat days per week so I can enjoy a beer or maybe a steak. But aside from my cheat days, I eat the same thing every day because it works for me. Find what works for you, and stick to it. The first couple of weeks will be tough, but it will get easier!

I'm with everyone who mentioned Keto. Such an easy lifestyle and the results are amazing. You can eat out practically anywhere you want, but if you choose to go this route, please do research. It's not as easy as eating bacon for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's healthy fats, moderate protein and low carb. Along with eating habits, working out will be your go to! Best of luck, Amber! 30 lbs will melt away before your wedding!

Today is my first day trying to eat a keto diet and I just dont understand how others do it! I tracked everything and all I ate in different variations today was spinach and meats and my Fitbit says I had 11% carbs. I also was so busy I only ate about 600 calories so I’m so frustrated how I can be double the 5% recommendation. I literally ate bacon and an egg with a pinch of spinach and for lunch I ate a meat roll with a pinch of spinach and a 1/4 of avocado. Plus one spoon of peanut butter as a snack.

When end I look at the meal examples, there is a whole bunch of food to eat so idk how they got that food to stay under 20 g of carbs. Can anybody enlighten me lol

I recommend the Whole30. It's an elimination program that only lasts for 30 days. It helps you identify what types of food work and don't work for you. It isn't technically designed for weight loss but a lot of people end up losing weight and keeping it off because it is a lifestyle change, not a diet. It is not designed to be a long term thing and that helps a lot of people make it through. I did my first round last July and have done one every 6 months since. In between I eat mostly compliant but I have found that dairy and gluten really bloat and bother me and I eat A LOT less sugar. I went from almost 190 to 130 and I don't feel like I have really been dieting..

So, this will be lengthy, but I've been jumping from diet to diet, and I'm right back where I started, weight-wise. So, here is all my research:

I’ve actually been doing quite a bit of research on my own the past couple weeks on a new diet plan that would best help my needs. I have a sort of hormone imbalance that is caused by insulin resistance, though it’s a bit more complicated than just having diabetes (which also runs in my family, causing me to be extra cautious about which diets I will try). I’ve been struggling with my health for about a year and a half, only now coming to some conclusions. I’ve tried phase one of the South Beach Diet a couple times to try to jumpstart my weight loss, and it was mildly successful. The diet focuses on sending your body into ketosis (basically jumpstarting your weightloss. Due to not getting enough carbs or fat intake, your body then starts burning fat for energy) for the first two weeks, allowing little to no sugar, or carbohydrates. An ideal day would look like this:

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, two slices of turkey bacon, and a cup of black coffee.

Mid-morning snack: 1 cup of low-fat cottage cheese

Lunch: Low fat turkey and cheese wraps

Mid-Afternoon Snack: 1 serving of nuts (I usually reached for a handful of pistachios, because having to de-shell them spent time, meaning I would eat slower and fill up faster).

Dinner: Baked chicken breast, and steamed snow peas and carrots.

By eating this way, and only drinking water other than black coffee on a daily basis, I was able to lose 8lbs the first time, and 12lbs the second time I went on this diet. Due to my hormone imbalance, this diet is not sustainable for me. I was getting the worst migraines of my life, my acne got worse, and I felt fatigued. I was seeing results, so I would try to power through. If you can make it to phase two of the diet, it becomes more paleo-based.

The one diet I’ve been coming across is the Mediterranean diet. The Mediterranean diet isn’t a fad diet, it’s a way of living. It’s not a temporary diet that will make you feel like quitting 3 weeks in, due to how this diet is structured. This diet is overlooked a lot of the time, because it doesn’t actually seem like a diet. When you search diets, you come up with fad diets (South Beach Diet, Atkins Diet, 21 Day Fix, Paleo, etc). For most people, a diet means weight loss, not health. I know I’ve been there, telling myself I just want the number on the scale to go down, even if I’m a healthy weight, and just need the fat on the scale to turn into muscle on the scale.

The Mediterranean diet is about health and a way of living. People that live along the Mediterranean Sea actually have the longest life expectancy in the world, and it’s directly linked to how they eat and view food in their culture. The diet is based on eating whole fruits and vegetables, whole grains, olive oil, beans, nuts, and legumes. All with pure ingredients (they add ingredients when you buy these at the grocery store a lot of the times). Eating this way ensures you get the vitamins nutrients you need in your diet, without having to take a bunch of supplements, like you might have to with any other diets. This diet is similar to the paleo diet, but the paleo diet is a bit controversial right now, because it’s how we were “meant” to eat as hunters and gatherers, but we aren’t going to all the work of actually hunting ourselves, and some of the nutrients that you get in meat that you hunt and isn’t processed is lost in that processing when you get meat at the grocery store. This means that, even though the paleo diet is sustainable, it’s not ideal when giving your body the nutrients that it needs.

The Mediterranean diet also isn’t big with overindulging on meats and dairy. As long as you eat fish twice a week, eat whole dairy products (yogurt and cheese) in moderation every couple days, and limit red meat or cut it out altogether, you still end up getting enough nutrients. It also focuses on the importance of life, and living. They believe eating slowly, but with others, improves your health. When you have a healthy way of viewing food, you have a healthy diet.
