Robes for bridesmaids gift

Renee, on January 10, 2017 at 5:33 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 36

I'm currently looking for satin flower robes to get my bridesmaids to wear on the wedding day as we are getting ready. Does anyone have any names of places they've tried and liked them? All I am finding is Etsy shops and I'm a little hesitant to order from there. Thanks!

Is this a prop for photos? If so, please get them something in addition to the robes otherwise it's not a gift.

If it's a prop it's not really a gift. Just a side comment.

The Knots Wedding Shop is where my friend got the one for her and the ones for her BP!

Robes are not a gift. I was in a wedding and got one. Its in a ball on the floor of my closet havent touched it since. Most people will not use them again.

Like PP said please get them a real gift too!

I got one for a friend's wedding from Show Me Your Mumu. They also have them at BHLDN (which apparently is supposed to be pronounced beholden, oops). Both are expensive and if I were you, I'd go the etsy route. That way you could spend like $30 on the robes and the rest of your gift money on other things for them (perhaps things that go with the robe, like candles for their bedrooms, a sleepwear set, nighttime mask, etc.).

Question since I was not aware they were not considered "gifts"....

What other gifts have you given the wedding party? I have not been in any wedding parties since I was really young so I don't really know what is given.

What constitutes it as a "gift" if a robe isn't?

@vanessa anything not for the wedding is a gift. Anything for the wedding (jewelry, robes, etc) is a prop for photos

@Vanessa I think it can be A gift, just not the only gift. Other ideas include jewelry (not for the wedding, just for normal use), candles, a sweet note, pajamas, champagne flutes, etc. They don't have to be wedding-related.

Wedding party gifts shouldn't be related to your wedding.

I got button down shirts from Etsy and love them! You shouldn't be nervous to use etsy, just read through the reviews and pay attention to where they're coming from (things from Asia can take forever to ship). And I agree with the robes not being considered a gift. It can be part of the gift, but you should give something else maybe a little more personal too.

Things that would be considered a prop, therefore not a gift: robes to get ready in, shirts with "BRIDESMAID" across the chest, sweatpants with the same across the butt, jewelry that the bride is requiring the BP to wear during the wedding.

Things that would be considered a gift: anything that you would consider buying for the BM for her birthday or Christmas.

Anything you're not requiring them to have in photos would be a gift, essentially. For instance, I gave my girls earrings (2 different pairs), lotions, candles, fun socks that matched each individual personality, chocolates, adult coloring books, mini champagne/sparkling cider (one girl was 15), and a few other small goodies.

Shop like it's their birthday. You don't have to give each person the same gifts.

Oh, I also gave mine hangers with their names on it. Nothing I gave them had "moh" or "bridesmaid", I made sure to personalize it so they could use it again for anything. I didn't intend these to be props but all of them brought them the next day and my moh told my photographer to take pictures.

I definitely wasn't planning on just buying them a robe as a gift, I'm getting them other things also. I was just wondering where to get them from

As pp said, just remember that anything for the wedding is considered a photo prop, NOT a bridesmaid gift.

That said, I literally JUST finished filming a review of one of the beautiful satin robes I got off of AliExpress that I know a lot of brides use. It was cheap, $7-ish, and as long as all of your girls are no bigger than say a size M, it would work quite well. I wear an XL and let's just say it's a travesty. Lmao. The measurements in their sizing chart were nowhere near accurate.

I'm still working on editing the video, so I haven't posted it yet, but in a nutshell, that's what I found at least from going the Chinese robe route.

I got mine wallets from Kate Spade during one of their 75% off sales, flip flops and I'm paying for their makeup. Sure it's a "prop" but they all loved it!

Aliexpress.com has them for like $5. Order 2 sizes up though they run super small. Very nice though!
