Role for cousin

FutureMrsSmith, on March 1, 2018 at 3:44 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 3
Hi all,

I have a cousin who is several years older than me. We were close when we were younger, but now only see each other on holidays as life got busy. We still get along very well and I enjoy her company.

My wedding is in a about two months. She is not in my bridal party. I am now wishing I asked her to be a bridesmaid, but I think it’s too late to ask now. I don’t want her to feel left out or like I don’t appreciate her by not including her, and I would like her to have a special role. We are not having a traditional church/religious ceremony, so I’m not sure if it would be appropriate to have readers? Any ideas are appreciated.

I’m not having a religious ceremony but I’m having a reading. Not all readings have to be religious. I would ask her to do it. Have you planned your ceremony with your Officiant? They can suggest readings.

I agree with ForestWed, there are lots of great readings out there that are not religious! Your officiant can certainly help, and here's an article that can give you some inspiration too - 17 Unique Wedding Ceremony Readings Your Guests Will Love
