Role proposal gift help needed!

littlemisssunshine, on April 5, 2023 at 9:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 2

I decided to ask my younger sister to do the wedding reading. I have a few options selected that I will let her pick from and not tell me her final choice, so I can be surprised and experience all the feels, but at the same time not freak out about it being inappropriate (we will have some older guests who are a little conservative, and I'm trying to be mindful of that) or off the wall. I gave my bridal party little proposal gifts, a bottle of local wine and a heartfelt card with a picture of us, nothing extravagant. I want to do a proposal gift for my sister, but have it be different since it IS my sister, if that makes sense? I have no idea what to do for this, and she is coming into town tomorrow for the weekend and I was planning to ask her then. HELP!!!

Time. That is more valuable than a gift that will be not appreciated. Take her to lunch and spend time with her.

Also keep in mind that proposal gifts are a social media product that is designed to make people feel inadequate when they don’t have them. 5-20 years ago, bridesmaids and other roles were asked in person or over the phone without gifts that no one wants to pressure them to say yes on the spot with zero information of what they are getting into or an option to say no if it doesn’t work for them. The proposal gifts don’t allow for that and they eat into an already tight budget for some because thank you gifts at the end are tossed aside in favor of the very new, very optional proposal items.
