As much as the phrase “everything happens for a reason” is overused, it is true. Luckily we still get to have our winter wedding but we ended up having to scale back the wedding a great deal. Although everything might not go as originally planned, it still will end up being a magical day. ✨ I wish you both a beautiful and happy marriage! Everything will fall into place for you. ❤️

Thank you so much! That really means a lot because it's definitely been a tough road with a few things that's been going on.

We originally were talking panning for August 2020, but I got into grad school and my fiancé is finishing up a PhD, so things are potentially going to be very crazy over the spring and summer as he begins to look for jobs and I get further into my program. We decided to go with December 28th of this year, partially because it was one of the only days that our dream venue was available over winter break, and also because that day is my parents 30th wedding anniversary, and we want to celebrate with them! We are using a lot of dark greens, silvers, and golds to bring in a winter-y holiday vibe without being too “Christmas-y”. Our flowers and decorations will have lots of cedar and winter greens, and my dress has some shimmery silver beading, which reminds me of snow! I don’t love the cold, but I love the idea of some gorgeous winter photography opportunities!

Oh wow. I can't wait to see photos. That's super sweet being your parents 30th anniversary and having a dream venue is always a plus! Sounds gorgeous.

I'm from San Antonio too but I live in New York now. My fiance and I decided to go with 02/22/20 in San Antonio. We figured it's so miserable here in winter our NY guests will appreciate a Texas February. Our colors are shades of green with a few burgundy accents. I really wanted a fall wedding but it's less expensive in February. We won't be less married in February!

We are having our wedding December 7th with a merlot, forest green, & gold theme! We're doing red velvet cupcakes for the grooms cake and lots of earthy elements for the decor! We fell in love our first Christmas together, and it's both of our favorite time of year! Plus it's the perfect time to finally get both families in one place. So excited! ☺️ All that's left is finding some massive (12" to 18") fake outdoor candles! Any recommendations?

We chose winter for a couple reasons. My fiance is often mistaken for Santa and we joked about a Santa and Mrs Claus wedding (not happemimg). And there are no bugs in December.

I always pictured myself a spring bride, but winter just worked out! I love my fiancé and it would have been a nightmare if I had to wait that long until we get married. We picked December 20th because it will give us enough time to take a vacation together before we're busy at university again. We picked the colors burgundy, navy, and rose gold! And my dress glitters like a snowflake Smiley smile We'll also have these very tall Christmas-y lanterns as our centerpieces, with flowers and cedar branches spilling out of them. I can't wait for it all to come together!!!

We chose the winter solstice, 12/21, because we both love nature and the changing of the seasons. We loved the symbolism of rebirth and a new cycle beginning with the return of the light. Our decorations are very earthy: birch, holly, pine, cinnamon sticks. Our cake looks like a birch tree and we're also doing a traditional yule log cake.

I am a leap day bride as well! Our actual anniversary is March 1st, and last year when planning a date, we were going to see what March 1st landed on, and behold that Saturday of the first weekend was leap day! Had do partake in having a unique wedding anniversary. We also plan to do a fun vaca every 4 years as well! And then celebrate our dating anniversary on March 1st the years there’s no leap year 💕💕💕

Very good reason. Bugs not so nice especially during your wedding. That's really funny though. Being mistaken for Santa lol

I would be excited too! That sounds super cozy and I'm loving the color scheme! I love red velvet and it's sweet that you know it'll work for both families to be in one place together. That's what it's all about.

As far as the fake outdoor candles go, I would try Home Depot, Pier 1 and Party Lights as a start. Good luck and I hope you find your candles!

So my winter wedding is very personal to me. My fathers birthday is November 5th, and he passed away unexpectedly on December 22, 2006. For years I hated Christmas because it always was a sad reminder of losing him. But over time as I grew and matured I adjusted to my life without him and started remembering happy times and holidays I shared with him and trying to stay positive. And then I met my fiancé and we started our own holiday traditions. To honor my dad since he won’t be with me, we’re having our wedding right in the middle of his birthday and Christmas, it will be on December 6, 2020 with a rustic winter (somewhat holiday themed) reception with a special spot saved just for him. ❤️
