Rona Brides: Postponed Invite List

Emily, on June 14, 2020 at 8:55 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3
Hey all,

I thought some of you guys might be in a similar situation and find this helpful. *We sent Save the Dates based on our venue's limitations (150), and then all the things happened. We're now looking at September and taking it day by day, but thinking that 100 may be a better max to shoot for. While it was gut wrenching to do, we picked out about 1/3 of the list that we would not include in our initial invites. My advice is this - think of it as a "postponed invite list" rather than cuts. I've been reaching out to people individually, and so far everyone understands, everyone is supportive, and most are just happy to do a video call as we may not have talked in awhile. We don't know what's going to happen, and it's possible the whole thing gets scrapped and pushed, but it has been a relief making that second list and taking proactive steps. It's a tough time - do what you need to do, and the best people in your life will support you.*NOTE: This is *not* a post open to the Emily Posts of the WW community - you can kindly say your dire etiquette advice to yourselves - it's not needed, wanted or appreciated here.

I appreciate it. I may have to cut down the guest list from 150 to 100 due to social distancing tables (which makes no sense if we are mixing guests). My venue can hold 130 but the 30 will sit outside the ballroom...lol better than nothing I guess!

I have reached out to people for addresses prior to Covid indicating an invite but now I’m not sure if some of those people will be invited Smiley sad

Many couples are in the same boat. Making cuts to the original guest list is pretty common these days for obvious reasons. So, it’s totally understandable and not viewed negatively at all.

You're definitely not alone in this scenario Emily! Everyone's winging it right now, but as long as you're heartfelt and honest with your guests I think everyone will understand. Especially since you've been reaching out individually! Smiley heart

I'm so glad it's been a good mental relief to make a decision and take some proactive steps!
