Room Blocks

Jessica, on July 9, 2019 at 12:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Just wondering how much everyone's hotel room blocks ended up/are going to cost? I know the price depends on location and hotel. Just wondering if mine sounded like a good deal....

Holiday Inn Express & Suites

New York

Start off with 15 rooms being blocked and more will be added as they book up at no fees to us if they are all not booked. Cut off date is 1 month before wedding.

Breakfast, pool, gym, WIFI and all that included.

If 10 rooms are booked the couple (us lol) gets a suite at regular room price. If 30 rooms are booked we get a free suite for the night.

If 15 or more rooms are booked we get a free 11 person van that will make two trips to the venue before the ceremony and two trips to the hotel after the reception for free. With the option to add more trips (if available) at $55 + 20% tip for each additional trip. If less the 15 rooms are booked its $200+ 20% for two trips to and from.

Room total is $126+tax

What do ya'll think??

Ours were $259 with a 2 night minimum which is a really good deal in our city.

For NY that's actually not a bad deal. Ours is $79/night similar to yours but we're booking in December when travel decreases in our area.

We booked a block at the Westin in Itasca (just outside of Chicago, near O'hare Airport. Starts at 15 rooms and chunks of 10 more will be added as needed. Rooms are guaranteed until 2 weeks out but they will accommodate at our rate if they have the availability up till the night of. we are responsible for paying 50% of those first 15 rooms if at least 10 rooms are not booked (but we'll hit that just with immediate family). Breakfast is included, pool/hot tub, workout room, WIFI, parking etc. all included. They did have shuttle but we chose to get our own because we didn't want guests waiting to get to or from the wedding because the shuttle was busy and we have a full, premium open bar for 7 hours so we felt it was necessary to give everyone the option for a safe ride back to the hotel. If we book 15 "room nights" (some people, like FH and I are staying the Friday night before as well so yay double dipping!) we get our suite for regular price and 30 "room nights" = a free suite for the night.

The place is beautiful an fully renovated in the last year. All of the hotels in the area were about the same price for us but this one was WAY nicer. Room rate is $99-119.00 + tax depending on occupancy.

Ours are very similar to this - $129/night in Northern Virginia, but our hotel isn't charging us extra for the shuttles, unless we want more than the two they have scheduled for us. Which we'll probably need more than two trips.

Our venue has it's own Inn so we had to put $300 down to reserve the entire Inn of 14 rooms and people have until the week before the wedding to book. The $300 we put down can then be applied to our room or towards our venue fee.

We have two hotel blocks - one is set at $169 + tax and $17 per night for parking. The other isn't a set rate, but is 15% off their best rate at the time of booking. I just looked now and the going rate is about $200 per night as of now, so it would be $170 with the discount, plus tax. Parking is $25 per night there.

These hotels are in Burbank, in a busy part of LA county, so these prices are pretty reasonable for the area.

That sounds like a great price to me. Ours were $269/night +taxes for the cheapest room they had plus $10/resort fee and $25/day parking per car.

We did a courtesy block with Courtyard by Marriott. 30 rooms for $115+tax (normal rate is $155+tax). I am in Central NJ. For 30 rooms booked, we get a free night.

WTH! Mine is $169 at a holiday inn express in PA. I would've thought it'd be cheaper than New York, but our shuttle service is free so it kind of evens out I guess. Mind you I also really didn't care the cost for one night stay because it is the closest hotel possible. Only inns are out the other side of our venue towards jersey. She asked me if the price was okay and I was like uhh yeah I guess? I didn't really know what was a bad or good price.
