Rosacea and Stress

Kimberly, on January 6, 2020 at 10:32 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 4
Hello, I have rosacea and whenever I am stressed or overly hot in temperature my face flares up red (it’s even noticeable with makeup on). I’m worried that even with professional makeup I will have an inevitable flare up on the wedding day. Any advice from other brides with rosacea and what skincare regimen you would recommend to prep beforehand?

🙋🏼‍♀️ Fellow rosacea sufferer here. I have researched this a lot, and it seems as though full coverage airbrush makeup is definitely the way to go, as it is super long lasting. I was told the key is to gently exfoliate once per week, and moisturize moisturize moisturize! Air brush makeup will fully cover the rosacea, but will cling to dry skin- so it is important to make sure it is smooth and moisturized.
And, if it is within your budget, laser therapy from a cosmetic dermatologist can apparently work wonders for some people. I have not yet had laser treatments (expensive & not covered by insurance), but would LOVE to have it done. Just make sure you ask your dermatologist how far out to schedule the treatments because apparently you will look worse for a bit before it gets rid of the redness.

Are you treating it at all? I am using Azelaic Acid 10% (The Ordinary) for mine and it's been an absolute game changer. Redness drastically reduced and it's only around $10. I live in Canada and they recently look it off the market to turn into a prescription (big pharma bastards!) but it's still available in the US.

Thanks! I’ll look into airbrush makeup and do a trial to see how it works. And yes, I have a derm appointment soon to talk about options too.

I’m not treating for the rosacea currently but i will ask my dermatologist about that and see what she says. I just went through intensive acne treatment so being extra careful with any new skincare things.
