Rose Petal Cost

Amber, on October 19, 2017 at 6:52 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 16

In recent discussions with our wedding planner we decided to add rose petals to the aisle in clusters around some hurricane vases with candles. I went to the florist today and she quoted me $1,000 which is SO over budget. What did you all spend on rose petals? Do you have any cheaper suggestions or would you just forgo the petals altogether? TIA!

(For reference the aisle is about 75 feet with 50 rows of chairs, we were going to do petals every other row).

Honestly, if you order faux flower petals from Hobby Lobby (in store or online) it will save you TONS. No one will be able to tell the difference either.

Our florist quoted us $200 for petals to cover 50' of aisle (both sides). Not quite sure what this will look like (how dense the coverage will be). Costco has them at 5000 petals for $70, but I don't know what 5000 petals look like in terms of coverage. (And, some of the reviews reference needing to "separate" petals.... Yikes!")

    Calculator: https://www.petalgarden.com/petalcalc.htm

(The silk petals should be about the same size as real ones so just use that number for calculating how many real petals you need.)

Most venues we’ve looked at don’t allow silk petals ;(

I’ll have to research in a few months about our petals, so this is an informative thread!!

I bought mine from Sam's Club. I bought two orders and had plenty. I had our aisle lined and then sprinkled some on about half of our tables.

I was about to go look where I got mine, but I used the calculator from petalgarden that was added above and the prices were really good, too!

Oh that is soooo overpriced. My local grocery store sells fresh rose petal bags at 10 dollars for around 100. Walmart sells a 500 petal set (already separated) for 7 bucks each

Sams/Costco is a great starting place and they have fresh flowers. A friend used them for all her florals at her wedding

You might check out Flyboy Naturals, http://flyboynaturals.com They have freeze-dried petals, which look natural but a) won't stain your dress or the carpet, and b) don't go bad, so they can be purchased ahead of time. Check out their Overstock Specials, which are 120 cups of petals, and none of them are over $200.

Petalgarden.com has very cheap silk and freeze dried petals. And you can order free samples to make sure they are what you want. If I remember right you can order 1,000 for around $20 for silk petals
