RSVP card wording

jewles322, on November 5, 2014 at 10:12 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 11

I know this was posted before, but I can't find the thread.

I'm getting ready to order my invitations/rsvp card. We are having a buffet so we don't need the menu options for one, and 2nd, I want to encourage Online RSVP, I'm having trouble coming up with the right wording for this?

Help please!!

Also, advice on having the rsvp cards made at vista print and the invitations made with wedding paper divas? would it look odd? (i like the design that wedding paper divas have, and its too hard to do this one myself for invite)

    I'm so confused, to clarify:

Your still having RSVPs printed to mail out, but instead your not having them mail them back, but RSVP online? If so why don't you just do e-mail invites. It would save you some more money. Maybe just print a few for mailing back to you for your older guests that might not use e-mail.

For the second part I don't think that would be weird. I've be diligently looking around for the best deal and if I find them on multiple sites so be it, I'll buy them seperate

I don't think the wording would be any different.

Please RSVP to (e-mail) or (wedding website) no later than (date)

Or do both... "Please either mail back your reply in envelope provided or email *******@****.*** by 1/1/2010"

    That will cover everyone.

For the wording I would just suggest something along the lines of Please RSVP by date. You may reply online at website or by returning this card.

To answer your second question. I think it will look odd to have the invite and RSVP card from different places. The paper won't match and likely you won't be able to get an exact color match. I think you are better off ordering both from the wedding paper divas if you like that design. What ever you do DON'T copy someone else's design then have it printed somewhere else. That is illegal and unethical.

I think you could just do an insert asking people to email their RSVP by a certain date. If you use a true RSVP card you will have to provide pre-stamped envelopes, which will waste a ton of money on the paper and postage if you're hoping people don't even use them!

ETA: @Natalie- Copying someone else's design and then printing it yourself is definitely rude and perhaps unethical, but is most likely not illegal unless it is copyrighted

So we ordered our invites (rack cards I designed) from vistaprint and did RSVP cards (cause I wanted them to be tiny) from 123 print. And I liked them together.

I filled the front site of the post card with RSVP questions (we have multiple events happening so I asked for RSVP to those different events). and info about when I wanted them to RSVP by I then did on the short side a banner that said options for RSVPing online and via phone or email. On the back side (where the address goes), I put a spot for guests to write in their names...this could be a spot you would say 2 seats are reserved for you if you prefer. Then below that I put an area for Notes or Allergies:

You could always just insert a vistaprint business card you design with the online RSVP option and not insert a RSVP mail back card.

Thanks for the tips girls! Smiley smile

I'm thinking of doing a few RSVP cards for the older folks, and wiil either do the business cards or another option from vista print, I was just gonna use a plain format one so it doesn't clash with the invite for the modern folks who I know won't mind the online rsvp option.

Business cards would be REALLY small for an RSVP card....

@ladymonk, i was thinking of having it as a enclosure card to tell them to rsvp on my website ....but I will check prices on rvsp cards/enclosure cards and the business cards..

What do you think of the wording on this card?

Or I can make two separate ones, one for the "younger generation" with the online Rsvp option and another for the "older generation" for the rsvp by mail option...envelopes are free at vista print anyway....

For wording on the RSVP card I would have it say:

Please reply on our website weddingwire.com/yoursite or by returning this card in the mail.
