RSVP cards or RSVP on wedding website? Help!

Kristen, on December 5, 2017 at 1:26 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Im trying to decide if I should create RSVP cards to stick in with the invitations (I know this is traditional, also more costly)... And the much easier route of RSVP through our wedding website (we have customized the RSVP online and had a few friends try it out/make suggestions to fine tune everything.) Obviously doing it online is MUCH easier. Does anyone have any advice about doing RSVPs entirely online (success stories??) Or is it really cheap looking/improper etiquette? I am less concerned about tradition, and thinking more about functionality, etc.

For reference, we are inviting around 75 guests, we will be inviting guests from Florida and Georgia to our FL wedding. The website has tons of info about accomodations, parking, etc. So we really want to encourage guests to go to the website.

Personally we are doing both. Most of our friends and relatives are always online as it is so we are pretty confident that they will use the wedding website to RSVP. However, we do have relatives that are slightly tech-phobes or just never online so we are sending RSVP cards to them.

My friend did the wedding website route for her wedding and ended up walking through the process with several of her relatives, or doing it for them.

I say it's up to you. You know your guests and the likelihood of them using the website

We did both... and I've had a lot of duplicate RSVPs. Personally, I'd rather have 2 than none! I think the easier it is for people to respond, the better your response rate. Ive also had a lot of cute notes come back with paper RSVPs....makes it fun to check the mail!

I did both and honestly only received 2 RSVP's via online. Personally I liked getting the mail daily to see who was coming.

We are doing online RSVPs to save paper and money on postage. The USPS is not exactly reliable and I've had mail returned even though our mailbox clearly has our names on it. Plus, the carbon footprint of a letter mailed is about 20% more than an email. I like the idea of everything feeding into my database and being able to organize mail merges for name tags, seating charts, etc.

We did online responses through our wedding website 4.5 years ago. We heard from everyone except one couple, 10 days before our due date. 3 out of 4 grandmother's could do it; and the oldest was 87. Everyone has or knows someone with internet access. We got a confirmation e-mail every time someone RSVPd - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, not just the few days that paper ones might arrive in the mail.

I only did RSVP online. I am so surprised that everyone on my side of my family did well! 70 rsvp'd and we are expecting 75. My uncle included my grandma in their rsvp so I was surprised I didn't have to do more hunting down.

I did entirely online RSVP's, I had older and non tech savvy guests on my guest list and MIL was concerned about them being able to do it. On my details card I included step by step instructions for responding using our website. Out of 226 guests, 135 households, two households had an issue, (and they were on the younger side of our guest lol) and two couples did not respond through our site, they sent gifts with a card declining.

We did online RSVPs, and most of our guests really liked how easy it was. The ones who had trouble just called us. However, we did have like 40 people to track down, but we would have had to track them down either way. (We know our families).

We are doing both, but the RSVP cards are postcards ... to save a little time and money.

We ended up "testing" the waters when we started collecting addresses.. we sent everyone a text or message with a link to our wedding website where they gave us their info.. everyone but 3 people was able to do this.

So, we decided to do the same with RSVP. We are saving about 230 by doing this... (the cost of the RSVP card plus stamps). Those 3 people who did not use computers will call us and we will put it in ourselves. Online RSVP has come a long way and can do everything the card can for us.

Def a know your guests type of thing, though.

All of my FH lives in the same area so everyone RSVP'd in person, but for my friends and family who are far away, I put a slip with my number and email and date of which to RSVP -- for a simple RSVP!

Do both. I got 125 RSVP postcards from zazzle for $40 bucks.

It will be worth it to the guests who are not great at using computers.
