rsvp Envelope Closure?

Sav, on August 4, 2021 at 2:06 PM Posted in Planning 1 5

I had our RSVP envelopes printed and stamped out so that the only thing guests need to worry about is filling out the card and dropping it in a mailbox. But now I'm wondering should I include some sort of sticker for the envelope so people don't have to lick the back? I guess I probably wouldn't have put this much thought into it until covid hit and people started making a big deal out of those peel and stick envelope backs, which they did not have in the envelope color I needed. Thoughts? Would you think it is too over the top? Would you like it if someone included a way to seal the envelope?

You can skip that unless you really want to. People can also just use a glue stick or damp paper towel if they don't want to seal it with their saliva.

As a guest I prefer to lick the envelope myself (or there is a trick people use of a wet sponge along the glue for that purpose). In my experience working in office mail rooms, stickers and other seals don’t hold up. You can also offer the option of online rsvps in addition to cards. Whatever is most convenient for them as long as they send something to you.

That's a nice gesture however it isn't that big of a deal. I wouldn't worry about it, people can lick/tape/whatever they choose

If someone doesn’t want to lick an envelope, that’s their problem to solve. Since it’s the most common envelope closure, they probably already have a system that works for them. 100% something you don’t have to worry about

You are overthinking it! If they don’t want to lick the envelope, they can simply tape it closed!
