rsvp frustrations!

Trista, on August 3, 2019 at 10:41 PM

All I can say is ugh. My wedding is September 7th and my rsvp deadline is August 15th. I have had TWO families RSVP! That's it! Do people just not RSVP anymore?! So frustrating!

I wouldn't. You gave them a deadline to respond by. You have to give them that amount of time. Think of it this way. Let's say you are a student and your paper is due by date X and the professor starts asking you for it 2 weeks ahead of time. Similar concept.

I’ve said this so many times! I paid 55 cents for that stamp, don’t let it go to waste! Our RSVP date was August 1st, we didn’t get a flood at the end like I thought/hoped. Waiting a couple more days before I start to reach out to people. I have like 30 total invites (60ish people) to track down 😔

Nope! I did at 1.5 weeks out. Had my mom check in with her sisters and turns out TWO of them thought their husbands had sent them out WEEKS ago.....Men🙄 The only reason I double checked for them is because they are both usually on the ball when it comes to letting people know stuff. Everyone else let me know and just had to remind an aunt and her daughter who was just on vacation to send the yay or nay. 25 days!

I think they expect you to read their minds that they will be there. A little ridiculous.

So sorry, that is totally frustrating! Some people just forget or wait until last minute. I don’t think there is anything wrong with getting some family to help you follow up even before the actual deadline date gets here

I had to follow up with over 100 of our 280 invited guests, which is a very tiny part of the reason we didn't do a seating chart or plated meal.

Sadly, other people don't seem to realize how important it is to RSVP for something as big as a wedding.

I’m sure you’ve considered this, but that is so incredibly early to be sending invites even if you have a March rsvp date. Have you thought about sending save the dates and then just asking people to get a rough swag at who will be coming? I fear for you that you will send invites out a year in advance (even before save the dates typically go out) and people will forget they said they would go, they will lose the invite, etc.

i know this is unsolicited feedback, but it’s coming from a good place I promise. If you absolutely need rsvps in March for your October wedding, maybe consider sending the invites out in February and only give your guests 5 or 6 weeks to respond, so they don’t get lost. That will also give you time to secure additional details that guests may need to know about ahead of time.

I've noticed a lot of people think that if they have verbally talked to you about the wedding you assume they are coming. Its so frustrating! We went to FHs grandmas birthday yesterday and his family was there and his cousins were like yeah were coming... okay well why haven't your RSVP'd -_-

RSVP for the cut offrsvp frustrations! 1

NO ONE RSVP any more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It does suck and then the family and plus 1, 2 and 3 shows up. I really do not have advice for something like this because if you do a guest list and have the Host or Hostess check it and escort them out them that is rude. If you do not have enough food and cake then that is rude too. I would just go with your instincts on what to do in that type of situation.

I personally did get some back but a lot of ppl texted me and verbally told they was coming. I then closed the website to registered with the image above. Out of a 100 RSVPs I have 62-65 that are coming (that I know of).

No they don't and the saying that you will get a ton closer to deadline is a bunch of BS too. Our deadline came and went, our follow up deadline came and went and still people haven't rsvp'd and were shocked when we let them no that they have been marked as not attending and will not be accommodated. We kept the process as simple as possible. Send an email or tell us in person since most of you see us almost every single day but still, nope. People suck!

Where is your online RSVP system? Is it possible that people have tried to RSVP but there is a technical issue? I would reach out to check and see what's going on. When there's such a small number so close to the deadline my instinct is there might be more to it; but I could be wrong and people could just be procrastinating. Either way I'd reach out to both account support for the online RSVP and the guests you haven't heard from.

I sent electronic invites via a text sent through the twingle app. I sent my invites some time in may, I got most back right away. There is just one household that has not rsvp'd yet but they are most likely not coming anyway. I'll follow up the day after the deadline, which is august 24th.. If they dont respond then I'll cancel the invite for that person and close RSVP's. It's not like they dont know how to get a hold of me any other way, it doesn't cost them anything, they dont even have to download the app. So if they haven't answered after just about 3 months, then they obviously are not interested.

See I find RSVPs online are more out of the way than literally grabbing a pen, writing your name and check next to yes or no and putting the already stamped envelope in the mail then to take the invite and go to the website to rsvp. I would probably forget to do that honestly. But we've had a ton of people ask if they can just hand deliver it to me next time they see me and I'm like no? I paid for the stamp in there just drop it in your mailbox. Why is that so hard?!

I'm sorry you're going through this..

I'm dreading it when it comes time for our rsvps. I had to text the mothers of my daughters friends for her birthday party..three people responded. I was worried she would feel bad so I sent out texts..twelve children were coming instead of three. And that's just an eight year olds party..

It's on weddingwire. I know it works, I've tested it with my immediate family members, and my bridal party, as well as my aunt were all able to do it just fine.

Interesting! I live in an apartment complex, so I guess to me it seems like more work to go out to my mailbox than it does to go to a website on my phone.
