rsvp & lodging preferences

Hi all!

My wedding is in June 2021 and takes place at a lake-side resort with a bunch of cabins as well as hotel rooms where most of our out-of-town guests will be staying (about 85 ppl). The resort is family-run and very quirky with the booking process. They require us to find out which guests will be staying at the resort by mid-March or else they will open up the remaining cabins to non-wedding people. In addition, we have to choose which room or cabin each guests will stay in prior to billing. It sounds like a lot of work but I have been to a wedding here which was AMAZING plus most of our friends and family will enjoy staying in a cabin with loved ones.

They recommended us asking who plans to stay at the resort as well as what accomodation (hotel room vs. cabin) they prefer in our invites or save the dates. I was under the impression that we wouldn't send out our invites until late April/early May but they need guest numbers by mid-March. Any ideas on how to go about asking people? Should we send out invites early and have them RSVP with info on lodging preference? Should we just include the lodging questions on our website RSVP form? Or would a paper RSVP form be more reliable?

Thanks!!!

First i would ask the resort if they can extend the RSVP date given the current circumstances. Then i would start with immediate family, wedding party, and then close friends to see if they would like to stay. To make sure you get a quick response i personally would send out a quick text or email.

Thanks! We don't need to know numbers until next March though. (2021)

I think from now and then people will have plenty of time to know their accommodations so I would put it with the RSVP and have them do it online. If you have guests that you think may not be able to figure out how to do that then paper RSVP is the way to go

I would send out a little earlier technically its like a destination wedding so etiquette to send earlier is expected. This way they can get cost together. I would ask venue if guest could put deposit and give therm link to book their own(hotel or cabin) as it is a lot for the bride. i know I'm getting married in JA and between the calls/ the rooms questions etc it could be overwhelming.
