Are you asking your guests to RSVP online? Or mail back an RSVP card?

We decided on online, for many reasons: reducing cost, less paper waste, more convenient for our guests. It's so nice to not have to wait for a reply in the mail, especially with how slow the postal service can be in the COVID era. We have a few older guests, but they use Facebook and text messaging so we figured they could manage (or their grandkids would help them).

I think we’re doing online as well for pretty much the same reasons Jasmine listed. It’s cheaper, less wasteful, I think people will RSVP faster this way and not forget (at least that’s how I would be), easier for guests and us, can fit the whole meal description online vs. on the tiny card, won’t get lost in the mail, so on and so forth. We also have some concerns about the olde r people but I already talked to my grandpa who is probably one of the oldest going and he said he could do it. So if he can I think everyone else can either figure it out or someone can help them. I honestly don’t even care if they just call me to tell me.

We're doing online for the sake of my data-loving sanity. I used With Joy for our website, so I was able to add additional questions to our RSVP such as what day they'll be arriving for our destination wedding, what they'd like for each course of our reception, etc. There was also a way for me to track RSVPs to the welcome dinner and the bachelorette party!

I plan to have everyone RSVP online. No cards getting lost. It’s easier to do. More affordable. Less wasteful. I think all our friends and family will be able to do it (except my parents, but they don’t really need to RSVP right? Lol)

Totally agree with you on the advantages of doing online RSVP! We're leaning towards doing online RSVP, but our website is through The Knot, and we can't seem to find a way to add additional questions (other than meal selection) to the RSVP process. We'll probably go with online RSVP anyway.

Totally agree with all the reasons to do online RSVP! Getting lost in the mail is probably my biggest concern about RSVP cards.

I had two kinds - electronic and traditional paper. the paper was for older folks who weren't so tech savvy

We’re planning to do both. But we will give the option of rsvping via phone/text/email as well to cover all bases of what is easiest for them. We have several elderly guests and even younger who prefer old school tradition when it comes to invites.

However we will not include any QR codes as no one in our families and circles will use them and many don’t know how. Plus the younger tech savvy crowd does not use them either.

Our wedding guest list is very small so we will be doing online as we won’t have more than a handful of older guests (only one side of the family is being invited for me and only one side of his family). And they’ll just be telling us so we won’t need physic cards

I did paper with pre-stamped envelopes and put a comment on our accommodation card if people want to rsvp they can rsvp on our wedding website. It’s been half and half so far.

I'm so glad we went with rsvp online. It was super convenient for people and most of all for me😆 There were some that texted or told us in person that they're coming and toward the end I just marked them as accepted myself when I realized they weren't going to do it. I guarantee that those people, and most guests, would not have replied by mail!
A big plus to rsvp online is that it means they have to go to the wedding website. I wanted that because there's all the info they need at their fingertips!

With Joy sounds like a good website to use! I also want to add a few extra questions to our RSVP process, but The Knot doesn't make it that easy lol.

I'm doing online in part to save money and resources, but also to force people to look at the wedding website. All of my guests regularly use computers, even the elderly guests, so I don't imagine there being a problem.

That's a smart idea! Did you only send the RSVP cards to those who you thought would prefer them, and give the online RSVP to everyone else? Or did you send everyone both options, and let them choose how to RSVP?

I totally agree on not doing QR codes. I have no interest in including those either, only because I don't like using them and I know many of our guests would have issues with it too. I also agree that some people (regardless of age) prefer mailing an RSVP card back instead of online.

We did both, and both were used, although mostly we got the cards back.

Giving guests the option of how they want to RSVP is a good idea! I'm actually surprised that half sent back the card, I would have guessed that more people would RSVP online.
