RSVP postcards?

FMM, on June 22, 2015 at 3:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

I spent Saturday night putting together samples of invites...and the website we have decided to go through (magnetstreet) has their RSVP in postcard form.

I can purchase envelopes if I want to for an extra cost.

Has anyone used RSVP postcards? did they work ok? did they get damaged or ruined (this is my fear)...would you recommend spending the extra money for the envelopes?

We used seal and sends, so the RSVP is torn off the bottom and mailed back as a postcard. We have not lost any that we know of yet. Some of them were torn but always taped up, I think it must be the post office taping them. I don't care if they are damaged, they have all been readable and honestly, I get mail in envelopes that comes back damaged too lol I don't regret our choice at all and find it convenient and tree saving Smiley smile

I used seal and send as well. I put the actually invitation in a envelope because I didn't want my invites to get lost or damage. But I used the RSVP postcards. I got my 1st one back today. It wasn't damage to be honest I wouldn't care if it was as long as it's readable.

The invites we are looking at are not the seal and send, so we will send everything out in actual envelopes....the guests just won't have them to send the RSVP back. I was worried about them coming back un-readable...so it's nice to get some feedback that they haven't been bad.

I considered doing RSVP postcards until I realized the cost difference in stamps was about $12 and not worth the hassle of making sure the postcards were up to USPS requirements (designed my own).

Does Magnet Street not provide free envelopes? Most online printers I've seen do or at least will sell them to you for a reduced rate. I haven't heard any postcard horror stories, but the small cost might be worth your peace of mind.

ETA: Sorry, just saw you said they do charge for envelopes. How many invites are you sending?

We used RSVP post cards, and it worked out pretty well. A few of the RSVP's came back looking like they were not processed by the post office (no markings on stamp), so I was wary about whether or not I received all the ones that were sent back. A few of the postcards came back torn, but overall we were glad we went with postcards.

They provide the envelopes for the invites, but you need to buy separate ones for the RSVP if you want them...i'm sure they are at a discounted rate.

I didn't even think stamps would be effected

ETA: We have about 100 (give or take) we need to send so I was going to order 110 to be safe.

I did postcards for save the date and my family and friends said they came dented or ripped. Some didn't even get it. I would be more worried about not getting them back. Can you buy the envelopes from the dollar store to save money?

We did post cards. A lot of people kept thinking they had to put them in envelopes even though there were stamps on them! I thought they were easy enough. Besides the confusion, they worked great.

We did. Worked great! Some were a little bent, but nothing big.

We are using them, and so far so good. One thing to note, the postage is cheaper so I do highly recommend! Nice to save a buck here and there.

I used RSVP postcards and had no issues with any missing, although a few did come back without postmark cancellation stamps, and one had multiple postmark stamps. Definitely cheaper!

I used them and have been getting RSVP's back for about a week. So far, no problems.

I did save the date postcards and I know a few got damaged. With the RSVP coming to you that shouldn't matter.

I'm using reply postcards also. It's a little cheaper on postage to be able to use the postcard stamp plus no cost of envelopes. My roommate is also doing that and she hasn't had any problems getting them back (even though she accidentally used the old postcard stamp rate).

"Because....money" we send out Postcard STDs. I know it isn't the same but some of our friends mentioned theirs were scuffed up in some places but were totally legible if that helps!
