rsvp timeline questions

Sav, on August 11, 2021 at 6:37 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 5
What is a good amount of time to give your guests to RSVP?

How many days should you give yourself as a buffer for late RSVPs and delayed mail between your RSVP deadline and the deadline your venue has for final count?
I just don’t want guests to feel rushed but also want to make sure I have enough time to call people who didn’t respond and all that.

We sent invites out 8 weeks before the wedding with RSVPs due 3 weeks before (so 5 weeks between when they got dropped in the mail to when we wanted all rsvp cards back). Our venue needed our final numbers 2 weeks out so we had a week buffer to follow up with those who didn’t rsvp.

I was planning on doing a similar timeline to Sarah. I don't remember when our venue needs the final headcount by, but I would give yourself about a week buffer to reach out to those who didn't RSVP.

We sent our invites out 9 weeks in advance (majority of our guests are out of town) and set the RSVP deadline for 4 weeks in advance, giving ourselves 1 week for late RSVPs before the caterer needed the guest count.

I have a one week buffer to follow up with the no responses. This leaves me a window to get numbers to the venue.

We are sending our invites Mid January RSPV by February 1st. Our wedding is March 19.

We are giving ourselves plenty of time.
