Rsvps

Jamasonmd, on May 31, 2021 at 10:35 PM Posted in Planning 1 11

So, for those getting married soon, how are your RSVPs flowing in? When I first sent them out a few sent them back right away. The last of couple of days I haven't gotten any. I mailed 5/20 and the return date is 6/24. How did you all RSVPs come in what was the flow? Did you have to call me and ask their decision? I put a stamp and label on the envelope.

We got maybe a quarter the first week, and then they slowly trickled in, like 1 per day over the next few weeks. Then we got about a quarter the last week as well. A lot of people will wait until the actual due date before responding. Waiting for RSVPs is the worst! (And yes, it’s more than likely you’ll have guests who never respond that you have to individually follow-up with, Boo)

It's very common for RSVPs to come back like that. You typically get a handful of people that are uber-quick, then a good amount of time, and a bigger majority close to/on your due date.

You'll likely get far more back closer to 6/24 - I wouldn't worry. This has always been pretty common, but it's especially true that people will hold off on their decision this year because of Covid.

When is your headcount due? If the deadline has passed and you still have some outstanding RSVPs, that's when you start individually calling or texting or emailing to prompt them for their answers.

Most people send then back towards the end of the RSVP window. You'll have a few people who send them in right away, but the bulk of people are procrastinators, so they'll send them in when they are due. This was my experience in 2019. I got a few immediately and then most at the end with a select few trickling in in-between.

Thank you, the final count is due two weeks before the wedding. But there are other things I need to purchase that is based on the final count.

Same for us - we sent ours out about 3 weeks ago, with a due date about 2 months from now.

We got a bunch in the first week and a half, and almost nothing since. We're currently sitting on about 60% return rate, and including the ones who haven't responded who we have already been told aren't coming, it's closer to 63% which isn't too bad!

Ours are digital, so we can see who has opened them, which is illuminating. The majority have opened them and some have tentatively begun to fill out the RSVP, but not provided all details or pressed submit yet, which makes sense - Our venue is about 1.5 hours drive from home so many people are booking accommodation and don't want to respond until they've sorted that out.

We’re getting about one a day and it’s kind of frustrating. We have three weeks left for the due date and we only have about 1/3 of them back. I hope they all flood in by the end. I think a lot people are waiting u til the last minute or just assuming we know they are coming.

When we sent ours out, we got the most responses within the first week and with one week away from the RSVP deadline. Most guests that RSVP early are going to be family or wedding party members. Everyone else tends to wait until the last minute just to make sure they are available to come.

We’re using greenvelope. It wasn’t too much more than paperless post and we thought the look and feel of the invites was nicer and you could customise a little more easily. They’ve been lovely to deal with so far - very responsive, and we haven’t had any issues with the actual mailings or anything else as yet (fingers crossed we won’t!)
