Rsvps

Jasmine, on November 20, 2019 at 6:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

I'm really debating whether or not I should allow both online and and mailing RSVPs options or if I should just do all mail.

What did you all choose and how did it work out for you? If you did both options, how many RSVP'd online compared to those that mailed back?

Any pros/cons? Thanks!

I did both options. It saves you money on the amount of invitations you need, I guess. I would say that you'd need mail ones regardless for the people who aren't tech savvy such as senior citizens.

We did both. I think we had 4 people out of 120 use the online option. It surprised me!

We’re doing online RSVP, but ordered traditional RSVP cards to send to our older guests.

Yea. I was thinking either both options or just mail because like you said, senior citizens. How many of your guests actually did it online?

Wow! Definitely wouldn't have expected that little to do online. Interesting.

Yea, makes sense. I was definitely going to do mail regardless. Just wasn't sure about doing all mail or both online and mail.

Daughter did only online (for a fairly formal wedding). The only guests who didn't use online were two great aunts in their 80's. One sent daughter a lovely handwritten note explaining she wasn't up to the travel. Another emailed us to tell use she "wasn't sure she'd done the RSVP correctly." We're pretty sure she didn't submit her response after she filled it out. All other guests did fine with online. On the RSVP date (Christmas day...) all but 10 guests in three households had responded. Based on our experience, I highly recommend online. People are really very savvy and figure it out just fine.

We’re doing online and it is such a pain to get people to go to the website and respond. I thought online was the easiest option but our families think it’s a pain to type in the URL... it super surprised me, I thought it’d be harder to have the responsibility of physically mailing something back. If I had to go back, I’d do all physical.

As far as online being easier, that's what I would have thought too. Definitely something to think about. Thank you so much for sharing Allyson!

We included stamped return envelopes and received all but 4 or 5. I got the feeling people didn't look at the website at all.

Dang. Well I hope they at least look at the website for important details if nothing else! Otherwise they're out of luck.

We only did online RSVP's and it worked out great! It was easy to keep track of. It saved money. And it sends out a reminder to anyone who has not RSVP'ed about a week before your deadline, which is very nice! We only had 2 couples to follow up with after our deadline passed. Everyone also said it was super easy to do.

Yep. Even my wife’s 84 year old grandmother was able to do it, on her own, with no issues.
