Ruined my hair...just in time for the wedding!

Kristen, on May 23, 2013 at 8:42 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 18

So usually I dye my own hair with box dyes and it comes out great. A couple weeks ago I decided to dye my hair one last time to get my roots to match, but just covered my whole head with it. Being blonde, I thought it would come out the same color or lighter. It was darker! So I waited a week, dyed it again. Still not light enough for me, but light enough. FI said he loved it and I should just leave it alone.

Well of course I didn't and decided to get a bleach kit. And now my hair is BRIGHT blonde with some orange. I tried one last attempt to cover it with a darker blonde but it didn't work. Now I'm off to the salon tomorrow to see what they can do for me. I really hope they don't try to stick me with an ash blonde because that's SO not what I want. I'd rather be brunette. But to change my look so drastically before the wedding would be awful! I'm so nervous Smiley sad

My hair right now Smiley sad Does anyone have experience with this? Will they just cover it with a nice blonde or will I be forced to do a darker color?

Oh no! Make sure you get the cost upfront. Most salons will charge more for "fixing" a bad dye job than for just doing it in the first place. Good luck!

A good stylist will be able to fix it. I would stay away from places that have less professional stylists. Private salons as opposed to big chain places will probably get you better results.

Bring your headpiece and tell them exactly what you want. It's best that you tell them upfront because you don't want issues later. Your hair is just a little too bleached, and it should not be a great challenge. Hopefully, the person you are using is recommended by someone who already has used them.

I would go to a real salon but my Bachelorette party is Saturday and I can only get a sitter for tomorrow morning. So I'm a little stuck, and desperate to fix it. I will ask a lot of questions to make sure I find someone experienced.

I know it doesn't look TERRIBLE but it looks really bad with my complexion. Not what I wanted for my wedding day! Ahhh why do I do this to myself.

I don't think it looks as bad as you think! I would ask them to add a deep conditioning treatment in for good measure after going through all of that! I think they'll be able to fix it, it may end up a bit darker because bleached hair soaks up more color! Good luck hun!

I don't see the orange, but you get the orange for not leaving in the agent in your hair long enough. You need a toner if you have orange. I would see if you have a beauty supply store near you and they will help you out. I have done something like this not too long ago and did fix it. Smiley smile

Well from the pic it doesn't look that bad. Good luck with getting it a little darker. I am sure they can fix it for you...they can work wonders at those places!

I just have two streaks of orange underneath, really. I have toner shampoos and conditioner but I just can't wait that long for it to kick in! I'm afraid to spend any more money and attempt it myself. I should've just went to a hairdresser in the first place I guess. *sigh*

Good luck. You shouldn't have dyed it so much in such a short time. It may start breaking off.

Be honest with the salon, because they need to know EVERYTHING you used so they don't damage your hair further.

Also, ask them why it was a bad idea to do your overall head. I had one lady turn her hair green because she didn't listen to us when I worked at a Sally's, she had messed up her hair trying to do her roots with bleach, we told her ONLY to do the roots, she did her whole head, and the bleach (which was blue) turned it green. Then she came in, and got a temp dye, even though we told her to go to a salon at that point, and she made it look really awful.

Go to a salon. I'm sure a professional could fix it.

I honestly don't think she should dye her hair on her own AGAIN. That would be five times (4 plus a bleach) in a few weeks. She's lucky she still has hair on her head to be honest. Go to a salon, and hope they can fix you. They may not touch your head. I wouldn't.

I didn't read through all these.... but mixing box dye and professional dye is a no-no in fact it can cause more damage.

Also dying you hair too close will cause damage and can make your hair come out in clumps.

I would leave it alone... it isn't worth it to damage your hair any more then what it is.

Hahaha, I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh. That's horrible. But I'm laughing because my mom did that to me 2 days before prom. We had to find someone that could re-do my hair the next day. They were able to fix it so I don't think you need to worry.
