Salem ma Bachelorette?

Destiny, on April 25, 2018 at 9:35 PM Posted in Massachusetts Planning 1 8
Hi lovelies! My girls and I are thinking about heading to Boston for my bachelorette weekend. We want to take a day to go to Salem while we’re down there since I’ve always wanted to go! Any ideas of towns half way between Boston and Salem? Hotels? Best time of year? Anything really! I love practicing tarot, so I think this will be super fun to do with all the girls. Anywhere we should definitely go??! 🧙🏼‍♀️🎃

I would stay in Boston- I think you can take the train right into Salem from there, and the stop in Salem is right near all the action. The main part of Salem where most stuff is located is on essex steeet .. I would try to go a weekday if I were you maybe a Friday if you can, on the weekends it’s VERY busy. Obviously end off September-October is ideal!.. once you’re there you will find plenty of things to do. My friends and I have gone every year for the past 10 years- it’s a tradition for us.. we have so much fun!

Salem is a great day trip! I recommend the above poster’s idea of taking the commuter rail and staying in Boston. Traffic in Sept/Oct can be brutal up there. There’s some great restaurants and tons of cute shops downtown in addition to the witch stuff. There are a couple of museums too. If you go to one, you’ve been to them all though. The trials re-enactment is pretty good.

If you want Boston recs, let me know!

If you’re looking for cheaper hotels in Boston(I know it can be astronomical) check out the Harborside Inn or Charlesmark.

I am from the north shore of Boston and I would say end of September to the end of October is a great time to come if your wedding is in December. The fall foliage is amazing in October and if you plan to go to Salem, closer to Halloween will give you a great experience!

If you want more budget friendly places to stay in between Boston and Salem, I would suggest anywhere on Rt. 1 (Saugus/Peabody/Danvers). If you have a car, this will give you easy access to Rt. 114 to head into Salem. I believe there is also a ferry to and from Salem and Boston (but not sure what time of year that ends; I'd look into that). When you want to head into Boston, you can also head to the Orange line (Oak Grove [Melrose] or Wellington [Medford]) and it will bring you right into Boston on the T.

If you do make it to Salem, I would suggest checking out Goodnight Fatty for some amazing cookies (for dessert). Some notable restaurants in the area (in Salem) are: Antique Table, Ledger Restaurant, Opus, Howling Wolf Taqueria, Finz Seafood, Village Tavern, Longboard's Restaurant & Bar.

If you're interested in meeting with a psychic as a fun activity, I have heard nothing but great things about Laurie Bruno (but you'd need to contact her in advance to make an appointment).

As far as Boston goes, definitely try and make your way over to the North End and get a cannoli from Mike's Pastry. Also over in that area is the Improv Asylum ($15 per person) and is a lot of fun! It's simply just an improv comedy show and every time I have been, I've seen a lot of bachelor/bachelorette parties and it's affordable. You can grab dinner in the North End or head over to Faneuil Hall (known to non-Bostonians as Quincy Marketplace). There's a lot of bars, restaurants, and shopping in this area.

Boston is a great place for a bachelorette party but can get pricey. Do your research! I think you'd have a great time!

I might be late with this post, but...

If you like practicing tarot, then I would go in October, like everyone else said. But, it's beyond busy that time of year (annoyingly so IMO). There is always something to do in Salem, so summer might be a good time.

Hands down best restaurant ever is Ledger. Opus is another great one. If you want really good and cheap breakfast food, Ugly Mug is SO good. Sea Level and Mercy are also really good, same with Howling Wolf and Finz. You want really good cheese and wine for your hotel room? Go to The Cheese Shop of Salem.

There are a ton of cute shops all the over, lots of history and a great museum too.

I went to Salem a couple years ago and I stayed in Peabody. I also know that there is a train you can take from Salem to Boston or I think a dollar!? I am not sure I didn't have time to go.

We went Halloween time and that was a blast! We dresses up and it was fun to see all the other people dressed up too! I want to go again!

Here is the hotel we stayed in!
