Salon vs. Bridal Suite

Miranda, on June 18, 2018 at 9:10 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6
I am trying to decide which would be better, either going to a salon for everyone to get hair and makeup done or having a team come to the venue and have hair and makeup done in the bridal suite. My venue doesn’t allow us in the bridal suite until 10 am and I’m not sure how long it will take to have everyone get ready (6 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and myself). And we would like to do a first look before the ceremony at 3. I don’t want to feel rushed so I thought of going to a salon a little earlier and everyone getting hair and makeup done there, then go to the bridal suite and get changed there. Thoughts?

I would say bridal suite, but 5 hours definitely won't be enough time to do makeup for 9 people and do a first look. I would go with what you mentioned, hair and makeup at the salon and then get dressed in the bridal suite. Have you considered booking a hotel room to stay in and get ready?

I am having the hair and makeup team come to the suite at the hotel. I don't know if this is standard or just something that my hair/makeup team offers, as I have never hired a beauty team before, but for us to get ready at the suite is the same price as getting ready at the salon. There just has to be a minimum number of ladies getting services, which for this studio is 4. Our wedding is on a Saturday, but I am actually checking in to the suite Thursday evening. This way I won't have to worry about running around here, there, and everywhere. I plan on scheduling a massage Friday morning, lounging in the suite with a good book, just doing things to relax. I understand that an extra night may not be in the budget, and if that's the case then I agree with Caytlyn that you should go to the salon to get ready. But if it is doable, I recommend having them come to you.

Hi Miranda! Welcome to the WeddingWire community Smiley ring I agree with the others, I'm not sure if 5 hours is enough time for nine people to get ready. Have you asked how many people would be on the team? If they have enough people it may be doable in 5 hours! If the team thinks they can do it in 5 hours I would definitely say to have it all done in one place!

I would always opt for the bridal suite! They are usually comfier, you can play more music and provide food and drinks. I'd talk to your HAMU artist to see how long it will take for everyone to get ready. They could always bring another artist for it to go faster too.

I agree. See if you can get an estimated timeline for nine and if it's over your schedule ask about another one assisting.

Thanks everyone for your input! It would be even less then 5 hours because we want to do a first look before the ceremony, which starts at 3. I’m going to talk to my photographer to see how much time we should block out for that and also talk to the HAMU artists to see how much time they will need. They said it would be two hair stylists and one makeup artist. Not sure if that is doable in less than 5 hours. And we don’t want to pay for a hotel near by because the venue is not far from our home and the bridal suite is included. So I’m thinking we may end up going to a salon with everyone and getting it done a little earlier then going to the bridal suite to relax and get changed and ready there.
