salt & pepper shakers as cake topper?

MNBride, on February 21, 2017 at 4:56 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

Has anyone done this or do you think this would be stupid? I searched cat wedding cake toppers and they are over $50 on etsy. Then I searched cat salt and pepper shakers and they are like $10. They are essentially the same damn thing.

Hell yeah, I'd get the S&P shakers- no point in spending more for the same effect.

The little holes on top would bother me but I'm obsessive like that. Personally I would look for little cat. figurines that aren't expressly cake toppers to keep with your idea.

I know nothing about cake toppers, but wouldn't salt and pepper shakers be a bit heavy?

ETA: unless they are plastic. for some reason I have a mental image of heavy porcelain shakers.

$10 on eBay. Yeah I didn't know if the holes would look stupid but I think for $50 I can deal with the holes.

Jennifer good point, I didn't think of that.

This is super clever! I don't think guests will ever get close enough to see the holes - especially if you have them strategically placed.

I doubt any guest would get close enough to be able to see the holes. If you're worried though and not planning to use them after the wedding as shakers you could fill the holes with some wax or fimo clay to make the holes less obvious.

This is a GREAT idea. And you can actually use them after the wedding!

I might actually steal this idea.

They don't look like they would be too heavy actually. But like I said, I have zero idea about cake toppers, and it might not even matter how heavy they are.

That's so cute and sensible!! I'm all about buying wedding items that I will actually reuse in our new house. Our topper is actually a spoon & chopstick rest and the geese also represents newly wed couple in our culture!

What a creative money-saving idea! If you're worried about the holes on top showing up in photos, your photographer can likely easily remove them ;-)
