I'd do a search for Zen gardens. You can leave the tools at home, use it for the wedding, then turn it into a decoration for your own home.

I would think this is something you could DIY as well. I'd get a deep wooden serving tray. Use caulk or even hot glue to make sure the seams are sealed. Then, buy the sand yourself. That would probably be the cheapest route.

This says very beach to me... and you could add some sea shells or something to cover the handles if you like... $7.70

It's already been posted, but I was going to say Breakfast/Serving trays. I'm positive I've seen plain, unpainted/unstained wood ones at Micheals.

Check with your venue! Sand might not be allowed because it gets everywhere. You might want to consider little pebbles instead.

Reduce the number you need by tying the name card to the bubbles

    I'm doing something similar. I found a box I loved here: http://www.beachthemeweddingshop.com/starfish-escort-card-sand-tray.html

However, they aren't exactly 'budget friendly', so my future FIL is making them for me instead (pic below).

Here's another one that I found, too: http://www.shorechic.com/sandbox_trays.html

FMS, I am concerned that the handles on the serving tray are too deep and wont hold my sand or peebles, thank you Kimberly, good suggestion. Kristin yes, I saw those onlione, but they are quite pricey! But you're pic is great, someone making the box for you??

You can get cheap serving trays at TJMaxx and Marshall's, too. I bought an ugly one there and spray painted it white for our wedding. Now it is a nice little serving tray.
