Sand ceremony song for blended family

Babs, on April 20, 2015 at 4:23 AM Posted in Planning 1 4

This is a second marriage for both of us. He has 2 daughters and I have1 daughter and 2 sons. I'm looking for a song for our sand ceremony which all 5 of the kids will be a part of. At first I was thinking "Yours, Mine and Ours" but now I'm having second thoughts. Any suggestions?

You don't need a song, and in my experience, music in the ceremony is very hard to cue with musicians and dj's. It almost always feels awkward.

Your officiant will start talking, you'll pour, they will keep talking, the end! Keep it simple!

^ Agree with Celia. We're not doing a song during our sand ceremony. The officiant talks through most of it. Only songs are going to be during the bridal party entrance and the exit.

I agree with the above commenters. We are doing a sand ceremony with FH's sons, and the officiant will speak about our family blending together as one. To be honest, I think having a song playing during that part of the ceremony might be overkill, even a little bit cheesy. I haven't heard the song you're referring to so I could be wrong. But I think the sand ceremony would be beautiful without any music.

I'm using Nothing More by the Alternate Routes. Our officiant is going to speak for a brief moment about the symbolism of the sand ceremony and why it is important to us. The music will start softly while he is talking. There is enough instrumental sound in the beginning for it not to be awkward. Or at least we don't care. We are going to do the sand ceremony with the song playing and then my dad is going to say a blessing over me and FH. The music will taper off as our parents go back to their seats. The song is special to us and my coordinator is helping coordinate the music.

It's the only music we are using during our ceremony, and since the DJ is coordinating the prelude, processional, recessional music we figured he can tackle one song during the ceremony.
