Sand ceremony... with 6 kids

Lisa, on February 1, 2017 at 12:46 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 4

I have two boys from a previous marriage and FH has 3 boys and 1 girl from 2 previous relationships. We are talking about doing the sand ceremony, but how easy is it going to be to get 8 colors that coordinate?? Or should I just let each child pick their color out and go about it that way?

I would suggest not doing a sand ceremony with 8 people, that sounds like a mess.

But if you are, you can either let everyone have their own colour, or do shades of two colours, be it your wedding colours or other. (Ex. Mint, sage, and dark green for your side, and aqua, teal, periwinkle, blue, and dark blue for his side).

FH and I have 4 kids between us. We let the kids pick their favorite color sand on Oriental Trading company. They have tons of different colors. We ordered a monogramed box that came with 2 pouring glasses and will be getting 4 more pouring glasses from the dollar store.

I recently did one with 10 grandkids. Let them pick the colors and have your officiant talk about the rainbow of personalities that make up your family. It'll be a mess but hey, life is messy. I like it.

I also encourage my families to include little charms, favorite rocks, even army men or action figures (small ones) and to give the vessel a shake every year so the pattern changes as the family evolves....
