Sand Ceremony

Sharonna, on May 3, 2012 at 1:12 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

I am wanting to incorporate a sand ceremony into my wedding ceremony. I've actually never been to a wedding where this was done. I have only ever seen the unity candle. Have you/are you planning to use this in your wedding? Any tips/suggestions on where to purchase the sand, vases, etc.? Where might I find examples of a script/wording for this type of ceremony?

Thanks much!

We are using sand we are putting it in the same time slot as the candle would have be in the ceremony

we are using a Paper funnel in the top on the vase so we don't spill , im using colored paper that matches our colors(red)

since we have 3 kids Im getting sand for them as well

order of pouring will be, B&G then all 5 of as at the same time

after Im going to seal the vase with wax, so it cant be spilled

the site im ordering from is

I got my Sand Ceremony Unity Set from Oriental Trading and they will persoanlize it for $25.

My white and Silver sand came from Oriental Trading as well.

My blue sand came from sandsationalsparkle.com

I actually have a ceremony that is going to be typed on paper and rolled up like a scroll so everyone can follow along. I am doing the candle cermony at the ceremony and the sand ceremony at the reception just in case some people don't get to make the ceremony who wanted to be there, they will have a small piece of the ceremony to look at.

I got my set from Amazon.com. They have TONS of options on there and most are fairly priced. We wanted a small set, and ours came with free engraving Smiley smile I also loved the fact that it had a lid.

We used black & white sand to match not only the wedding, but our home decor as well. I have attached a pic of the set we used. Not ours, but I don't have the pic on this PC.

As for wording, I have that on my laptop at home. Our officiant gave us some great ideas! If you PM me I can send you the wording later on.

We are using this one, with lavender and white sand. Found it at Things Remembered, and just love it, because it is so unique and different from all the other ones I have seen Smiley smile
