Sandals lounge vs. Club Mobay when traveling to Royal Plantation?

steebsthegreat, on October 8, 2016 at 2:31 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

We are getting married in Jamaica (YAY!) but I'm already starting to panic about the traveling/airport portion of the trip (BOO!).

I've heard that Sandals has a lounge in Sangster International Airport. Is this included when you book a trip? Or should I look into Club Mobay? I've heard that Club Mobay can fast-track me through security and immigration - is it worth it? I don't travel often (I've actually only flown twice, and never out of the country) so I'm nervous about making sure everything goes as planned.

Any details you can pass along are very much appreciated! Smiley smile

@MeettheBrowns - would it be strange to speak with a travel agent if we're not booking the trip or flight through them?

I'm a travel agent. It's not what it seems. As long as you have your passport and everything matches, there is not a problem. We were thinking about doing our wedding n Jamaica before family started complaining. So we decided to stay in the states.

I was in Jamaica in June, and used Club Mobay both upon arrival and departure.

When you arrive, Club Mobay offers a VIP meet and greet, and fast tracks you thru security. They offer a private lounge with snacks where you can hang out until your transfer is ready.

When you depart, you can also hang out in the very nice Club Mobay lounge and enjoy the free snacks and wi-fi until its time to go to the gate.

    I would recommend it!

I used club mobay just two weeks ago for my honeymoon. It did fast track us through security. It was 30 bucks each. Free buffet, free drinks and two comfy chairs. They had a separate room for families/people with kids which was awesome. I definitely thought it was worth it

Just for the other side, I traveled to Jamaica this spring and did not opt for that. I've traveled a decent amount internationally and getting in and out of Jamaica is hardly more involved than flying in the states. And club or not, you're still gonna have to go through customs (it's not a big deal, promise!) if you think you'll really take advantage of the food and drinks, maybe it's worth it but I probably wouldn't do it just for any so called "fast tracking" benefit. Just have your passport ready and it'll all be fine!

We did club Mobay both ways(arrival and departure). You go throw customs in 10 minutes while there is a line that people stand in for about an hour or more. Food is pretty good while waiting for transportation and the plane. If I ever go back to Jamaica I will defiantly do it again.

I go to Jamaica at least once a year and love Club MoBay. I only use it for departure as I like the atmosphere, especially now that they have a beautiful new location. We used the electronic system for entry and it took about 10 minutes and then on to the lounge. It is definitely a good idea to use a professional travel planner...they shouldn't charge you any extra and can make sure you get the right deals. They should also check frequently to see that you have the lowest rate if a lower one does come out.

Sandals has a lounge when you arrive and just drops you off at the airport when you leave. However, Club Mobay will help fast track you coming and going.

Wow! we're getting married the same day and going to the same place for our honeymoons...how cool is that? I'm doing Club Mobay. I hate lines. I can't take the closeness (clostaphobic). What day are you arriving and where are you staying?

@Barbara - we're actually getting married at Royal Plantation, so I don't think we'll be there at the same time! That's too funny, though!
