Sandals Vs. Secrets resorts??

We decided to go to Sandals after speaking to our friends who spent their honeymoon at Secrets. They told us: "Do an all inclusive, and make it a Sandals! We went to Secrets, and we wish we had gone to Sandals."

Apparently, Sandals has more activities and is more lively than Secrets. (At least, that's what our friends said.)

ETA: FH and I will be going to Sandals La Source Grenada for our honeymoon. Did you know it's the only Sandals with a steakhouse?

I've heard sandals is way more commercialized and has giant SANDALS signs everywhere. I've heard NOT to go to sandals. Shrug. Not sure! I've never been to either. But I guess everyone has a different story

We were looking at Sandals in St. Lucia for our honeymoon, but we ended up booking a newer resort based on the recommendation from our travel agent. She told us that Sandals buys up a lot of the smaller resorts in the area and adds them to their property, and some of them are only slightly renovated. She also said that the rooms won't be as nice unless you get the more expensive, fancier rooms. That was what kind of swayed us to go with the brand new resort. But I can't really comment on things because we've never been to a Sandals, and obviously we haven't gone on our honeymoon yet.

I think either way you'll be happy. We went to Secrets Maroma in Mexico in 2015 and I can't say enough great things about it. The entire trip was perfect, the rooms were amazing and the resort was beautiful. The staff seriously goes above and beyond to make sure you're enjoying your stay. We loved it so much we're honeymooning at their resort in Costa Rica.

I have yet to go to a Sandals resort, but we have friends who've been there.. heard great things about them too. I know they're a little more expensive, but really not that much to make a huge difference. Sandals has more resorts in various locations through out the Caribbean too (a lot of Secrets are in Mexico).

I've personally been to Sandals LaSource Grenada. The property is breathtaking! Everywhere you go is scenic. Also the island itself is very pretty and worth taking a day or two to explore.

In the Dominican Republic, you only have Secrets from which to choose. They've recently open a new resort which is lovely. I prefer the new Cap Cana over Royal Beach.

I just returned from Secrets St. James/ Secrets Wild Orchid. Joining them will now be Breathless.

Though both Secrets share some of the same venues, the two resorts have different atmospheres. If you go, absolutely choose the Preferred category.

The Sandals Resorts in Jamaica are different than the Secrets Resorts and you have several from which to choose. If you are looking for very elegant and upscale suites, you may want to look more toward Sandals.

We just chose Sandals Ochi in Jamaica! It is supposed to be the most lively Sandals in Jamaica. Some are more secluded and low key. We have never been to either Sandals or Secrets in the past, but I know people who love both. For us, Sandals was more affordable and offered more restaurants, bars, and activities. We're easy going people too and plan to travel a lot more in the future so we didn't want to put too much pressure on this. Any Secrets or Sandals I'm sure will be amazing! They're the two top rated chains.

Flights also made a difference for us. Some took all day to get there so we avoided those!

I've stayed at 4 Secrets Resorts and they are FABULOUS

I've been to both .. secrets Cancun Mexico and sandals Antigua ... I really liked them both ... sandals had a much older crowd and EVERYONE is a couple. The food was very good though. Secrets was younger and more laid back.

Secrets in Costa Rica was absolutely beautiful!!!! Never tried Sandals, but I'm sure its great.
